MVDP also crashed, had to pace himself back instead of going through the team cars. Might just have been on a bad day. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about a race that is nearly a month from now.
And if there's any weather, I fear Pogi doesn't have a chance.
Can anyone explain why Van Poppel was helping Pogacar in the chase?
So... the key to winning for Pogacar was crashing?
If you'd been alive 55 years ago, you'd be telling everyone that cycling was in the end times because of MerckxDisaster for cycling. The end times
Yup, if he would have started the sprint already off Pog's left I think he could have taken it; starting to the right first cost him, Pog could close the door without really moving at all.Pidcock boxed himself in. Cost him the win.
"Only might can make right" (c) NetserkSome people suggested 2 leader strategy. Some complained about headwind.
Guys, this is the juggernaut of cycling. Raw power fixes everything!
You have to watch it back, from the crashMissed a good chunk of the race because I was having coffee with my family.
So... the key to winning for Pogacar was crashing?
(I know, I know. Corelation and causation.)
And nice to see Mads back.
Yeah, completely acceptable to race against your own team then.Because they are friends.
Fastest Cipressa ever and only 6 seconds off the Poggio record, in these circumstances. That had zero to do with anyone else (except Van der Poel) being on a bad day - heck, Pidcock did mutant numbers here.Hard to draw really any other conclusion. Either half the peloton was on a bad day, or the sport as competition is over.
Someone ended up gut punching Merckx cause the frustration got to big.If you'd been alive 55 years ago, you'd be telling everyone that cycling was in the end times because of Merckx![]()
Agree. And until Merckx retired, it was. We are basically relying on this guy to get bored and quit.If you'd been alive 55 years ago, you'd be telling everyone that cycling was in the end times because of Merckx![]()
If he doesn't how does this help him? He was not winning from the group today either and no way Pogacar is willing to pull two riders for 15km. I think his best shot was somehow hanging on over the Poggio and winning in the sprint. Can anyone explain why Van Poppel was helping Pogacar in the chase?
Maybe this year the fans at Roubaix start throwing stuff at him instead of van der Poel.Someone ended up gut punching Merckx cause the frustration got to big.
It's not something i would ever advocate for, but things can get ugly if the dominance continues and his (Pogacar) positive image starts to change.
Don't think I've seen the motors this close in front this consistently.Fastest Cipressa ever and only 6 seconds off the Poggio record, in these circumstances. That had zero to do with anyone else (except Van der Poel) being on a bad day.
So racing is over then, whenever Pogacar lines up.Fastest Cipressa ever and only 6 seconds off the Poggio record, in these circumstances. That had zero to do with anyone else (except Van der Poel) being on a bad day - heck, Pidcock did mutant numbers here.
He has team leaders in the group ahead. Like he never in a million years survives the Cipressa after helping Pogacar. If he doesn't how does this help him? He was not winning from the group today either and no way Pogacar is willing to pull two riders for 15km. I think his best shot was somehow hanging on over the Poggio and winning in the sprint.
It's just how cycling goes. You are not gonna win every race in which you are willing to pull in the lead group. MvdP pulling today was not more of a mistake than Pogacar pulling a year ago.
It's 3 weeks away, not a month to PR, but fair enough, there is time; I do think Pog is going to lay waste to him at De Ronde (and everyone else to be fair...), that one to me is a done deal.MVDP also crashed, had to pace himself back instead of going through the team cars. Might just have been on a bad day. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about a race that is nearly a month from now.
And if there's any weather, I fear Pogi doesn't have a chance.
