No matter how fast Pog goes over Poggio, I don't think he can drop WVA in his current shape. The gradients are simply not hard enough.

But WVA is in a worse situation because he is considered to be a better sprinter and will be forced to do the lead-out (and keep the pace in the last km).

This give Pog a really good shot at winning IMO.

If I were the other teams, I'd actually consider Pog to be the de facto fastest sprinter. Would force him to do most of the work.

Remember, Wout was beaten twice by Pedersen in PN. He should ride as the underdog, not the favorite.

It's just the start of the season but Pogiphobia is already taking its toll.

"From Poggio, it’s not a long way to the finish, and the way he is climbing, he is going to be difficult to beat.” - Kristoff

It’s a little bit like Play Station for him. If he wants to go, he’ll go.” - Haussler

"I think the next five years, there’s not going to be many races won by anyone but him" - Porte

"The way Pogačar is riding, we’re racing for second place" - Caruso

"I expect Tadej Pogačar to be a favorite, to be honest" - Van Aert

How many will actually start the race?(besides Pogi and his team ofc)

Everyone's going to be sleepwalking their way to the finale making their plans to try and somehow live with Pog on the Poggio or reel him back in afterwards and instead he's going to ride clear on the Cipressa instead and bridge to someone :D
Pog is the only person who could attack on Cipressa and still have a second shot at the Poggio. That man is like a Duracell bunny. Unlimited recovery.

I will paste some Wiki stuff:

Milan–San Remo (in Italian Milano-Sanremo), also called "The Spring classic" or "La Classicissima", is an annual road cycling race between Milan and Sanremo, in Northwest Italy. With a distance of 298 km (~185.2 miles) it is the longest professional one-day race in modern cycling. It is the first major classic race of the season, usually held on the third Saturday of March. The first edition was held in 1907.[1]

It is traditionally the first of the five Monuments of the season, considered to be one of the most prestigious one-day events in cycling. It was the opening race of the UCI Road World Cup series until the series was replaced by the UCI ProTour in 2005 and the World Tour in 2011.

The most successful rider with seven victories is Belgian Eddy Merckx.[2] Italian Costante Girardengo achieved 11 podium finishes in the interwar period, winning the race six times. In modern times, German Erik Zabel and Spaniard Óscar Freire have recorded four and three wins respectively.
