If teams don't want UAE to blitz the race later, why are they not forcing them to use up a couple of men in this phase?

I think a massive part of it is the wide and straight roads.

And the fact that it´s still 40km to the finish, unlike those mentioned stages in Paris-Nice or the Tour.

I didn't check today's schedule, but hey tend to show the first parts on RaiSport, and the final one on main TV (Rai2 or so). So it's most likely just a channel change.

After seeing the Women race, I must say what "winning formula" are even some guys talking about? Without Pogacar and UAE, this race would be a sunday ride until the last km.
This route needs to change dramatically. A monument can't be a race of 6 hours of nothing.
