I always thought a big crash could be likely due to the nature of the roads and the nerves in the peloton.

maybe there was a front puncture as I wouldnt expect to lose grip like that on a dry road, and then youre going to get lots of steering over compensation for the speed wobbles and at that speed in a close bunch, its just yeah going to take a bunch of riders with you.

Just not a hard enough climb is it, could get the 8 best riders in the world setting the pace and there would still be a group of 30 looking around at the scenery wondering when the race is about to start.

It's that no strong team wants to rip the climb.

Othrewise it's like 99% the climb and 1% distance

true, there are quite some agressive chops as they aim for the apex, but I couldnt really see, as my picture keeps breaking up annoyingly like watching digital soup.

Also only 6 riders per team. Poggio will be hard enough to get separation for the women.

Perhaps it will make RCS consider making the race longer for next year. I've heard Cordon-Ragot say it should be at least 180 km, but she obviously only has to look at a screen these days like the rest of us.
