If you want to criticize the length of the race, maybe start to criticize the team tatics of FDJ and UAE.
Why didn't ELB and Vollering, one of best climbers in the peloton, attack on the Cipressa? We saw in the men race, that it worked. Also why didn't FDJ use Labous to ride as hard as she could? She only had one acceleration and that was all of it.

Because the men have been attacking on all the different bits in the finale for years and kind of know what works and what doesn't, and even then everyone thought Cipressa was the wrong choice, till it wasn't.

This was the 1st time in a race situation these women have done this & there's always an unwillingness in women's races to go for do or die attacks, because a good haul of points is better than ending up nowhere, because you know if Kopecky & Wiebes are still in your group with 10km to go, you'll struggle to beat both of them.

Whereas the dynamic with MVDP, Pog & Ganna vs the rest is very different

CuL tried to pull on the front for Kasia on the Poggia, look where that ended for them, they'd have been better not doing that and letting it turn into a bunch sprint for Dygert, even though Wiebes wins 98 times put of 100 in those situations.

It was not a bad scenario for UAE, who was also missing Persico. ELB is not beating many riders, apart from Kasia, in a sprint, so taking off like she did was really her best option, because she was unlikely to get away solo on the climb or from a smaller group. It would of course have been better for them if she had either won or Włodarczyk had been able to hold on to contest the sprint.

Quite impressive that it's her first ever broken bone though.

I was caught in two minds about highlighting that to be fair, because yeah its like Lizzie D actually only first broke a bone in her career at that crash last year at Tour of Flanders, but Im like also yeah its still a broken bone and I know they do hurt alot, so do we celebrate it as a thing or not, I dont know :D

but at this stage of the season it rules her out of all the Belgian classics for sure.

It obviously isn't a trend SDW have started, but I feel quite certain that some skillful fans have already shared their much more accurate drawings of the finish. Another option would have been to ask Christine Majerus to draw it.

this is the trend they were using fwiw, it was probably just their overworked social media manager spotting something they could use to boost those likes & engagement metrics. I wouldn't get too over bothered by it. Just imagine what they'll do if she gets 100 tomorrow...
