Balsamo not well placed. Wiebes in the end. Closer than I thought.

They have to make the race 200km.

Rüegg getting third despite losing all momentum is yet another great performance from her. Le Court likewise just continues to deliver on the big stage.

Kind of the expected outcome, this race needs more distance and I hope the UCI sees it too.
Correlation does not equal causation.

If anything no team made a serious effort to make the Cipressa and Poggio hard enough.

Make it longer and the domestiques will just be weaker.

Yeah, well, perhaps making a women's version of a terrible men's race wasn't a great idea...

No. The solution is not to make every race as hard or as long as possible. I don't know what you expected, this is as exciting as the San Remo finale is going to get.
The USPs of men's Sanremo are that it's as long as possible, and that it's tense like no other finale from Poggio onwards. This iteration of the women's race is nothing special in terms of length and Wiebes was never even remotely in trouble on the Poggio. Therefore it has failed to fulfil the role the men's edition does, exciting ELB attack notwithstanding.

Unsurprising finish. I was hoping ELB would hold it, but no dice.

it felt like she wasnt attacking those final corners hard enough and was losing out on speed, but the way Kopecky just effortlessly rode up to her it probably didnt make the difference in the end, though she ended up 12th out of a 12 rider group.

Exact same thing as Philipsen last year. Or frankly most men's editions pre 2017.

You just don't like the fact Wiebes won. That's it. The final was just as exciting as most Sanremo finals for the men. A race Mark Cavendish has won, remember.
