Rain delay in yankees/tigers game puts an interesting spin on things. I presume that Verlander and Sabathia both will not pitch the remainder of the game.
Nova and Fister are now scheduled to pitch the rest of the game. This makes sense, and will push Verlander and CC to game 3 back in Detroit.

The Brew Crew looked pretty solid upending the Dbacks today. And the Philly-Card game is just starting. Should be a good day for baseball.

Rangers look good, would pick the Phillies for the overall win though.

As a Padres fan the post season is a strange and mystical place we have only heard of... :(

Nice win for the Tigers tonight. Great to see A-Rod strike out twice like that, especially that last out. Sweet. Plus, for the Tigers they are set-up to have Verlander pitch game 1. The series with Texas should be good. I like the Tigers in 7.

Meanwhile, the battle between Philly and the Angry Birds is a tough one. Philly really should win at home, but the pressure there will be tough.

I like the way Arizona has come back against the Brewers. Who doesn't like Kirk Gibson and the team he's built?

Less chance of rain in Arlington so that means we could see Verlander 3 times if needed. I know Rangers have looked better do far in the off season but with no disrespect to they rays they had an easy task than the Tigers and theyl boys just seem to know how to take the tight games this year which will be huge.

And like that, the Phillies are gone as well. Didn't expect that but huge props to Carpenter. All those bats the Phil's had, didn't mean anything in the end.

I thought the Brewers may have eeked it out and I have to pick the Cards against them, though I'll be cheering for the Brewers. They do have the HFA and are great at home, so we'll see.

All setting up nicely on a tigers-brewers world series just as predicted :D. I actually had a small bet on both to win the ws at the start of the season ( tigers because I'm a fan and Brewers because I thought they had an excellent team) certainly means I know who I will be supporting in both games.

Those were solid bets. What were the odds?

Being in europe the past 6 weeks I have sadly seen 0 baseball. Halladay/carpenter duel sounded so epic, absolutely one for the ages

I'm always in the UK so it means I have a lot of late nights, I only sleep 4 hours a night so isn't that big a problem. I got 33/1 on the mighty Tigers and 25/1 on the brewers. It was an excellent pitching battle, not often these hyped battles live up to expectations.

Great picks! Today's game I think showed that the Brewers are a force, and it was a key win.

The rain delay is definitely going to help the Tigers. I think it's very likely that Leland will move Verlander to a Game 4 start, even though it's not his style to do so. Meaning he could pitch in a theoretical game 7 if needed. But the Tigers as a whole need to play better I think to beat the Rangers, but they are more than capable.

Congratulations to the Texas Rangers for reaching the World Series, for the second time in as many years. And this comes after losing their ace, Cliff Lee. No matter whom they play, I'll be cheering for them at this point.

+1

Looking like Texas v Albert and the Cards for the WS.

Would really like to see the Brewers go through, but can't see them winning from 3-2 down, especially with Marcum starting game 6.

Agree. I have to think the Rangers will be favored against either as well. They have solid hitting through the entire line-up, and probably the best bull pen in all of baseball. And they have been here before and seem to know how to win.

I have absolutely no connection with either of these teams, but the mere fact that Dubya is a Rangers fan/ex-owner/whatever puts me four-square behind the Cardinals!:p

Two very close games so far! Very exciting. Showing what great relief pitching both teams have. I'm sticking with Rangers in 7. But it should be close to the last out.

Rangers have never won a WS, which is why I want them to win. But St. Louis is a classic baseball city. Maybe as much as any town in America, so I'd have no problem if they won.

Albert
Pujols

Wow.

3 jacks... 6 RBI's.

Now that's a big night.

Unless Josh Hamilton rediscovers some pop... St Louis are looking the goods.

I'm definitely supporting the Cardinals! Coming in to the Series everyone said the Rangers were going to win easily. Except the Cards beat the Phillies and the Brewers to get here, so i think they are better.

Basically all they need is a win from one other pitcher like Garcia and they win because Carpenter will most likely win when he pitches.

I do like the Rangers closer. Feliz is a beast. When he closed out a Tigers game and struck out the side he was throwing 101 mph fastballs.

on the news just now they said tickets were going for 1200 each..I've always wanted to see a world series game..not that much though

woo-whooooo. What a playoff game with Texas taking the series lead 3 games to 2. Not exactly an error free game though. Murphy's Law showed up big time. I liked the Napoli interview afterwards... I don't remember seeing a player tear-up like that but not have his voice crack. I have one suggestion to ML managers... with all the crowd noise don't rely on a phone call to the bullpen to get the right name for the pitcher the manager wants to sub in... text it or something.
