Sorry if my avatar offends anyone. It really wasn't meant to. It's mostly that it captures a specific scene I truly like a lot.

EDIT: Have to settle with one of the character, but without any references to the scene :(

I never found your old avatar offensive but definitely disturbing

There seems to be a lot of heat between various factions here, I'd be willing to moderate peace talks between the parties.

I am the leader of my faction. I would invite all the people who want to post pornography, swear, have little moderation and post freely to join my faction!:D

Of course you're the leader. Your fraction contains only you ;)

I have been compared to George Mitchell on more than one occasion, so I am confident we can reach a solution.

What. I thought that avatar was Michael Rasmussen.

I must confess, I thought it was Michael Rasmussen as well, with blood pouring down his face and out of his ear. Most unpleasant.

This constitutes blatant baiting. I would report the post, since baiting is against forum rules, yet somehow I get the feeling nothing would come of it ... don't know why, just a hunch. A mod is purposefully stirring sh*t up: went out of his way to create this count-up (I assume he is the creator), posts it in a thread where he knows it will have the most effect, and to top it all keeps it in his signature so that people are provoked (a.k.a. baited) not only once, but everytime he posts anything.

Tell me what is the purpose of a mod again?

Mocking riders is something you're all allowed to do. And mods are just regular users so I don't see the problem

You are absolutely right and said mod is also well aware of that. So if he didn't purposefully bait to get a rise out of someone, at least he acted gravely irresponsible for a mod. By posting what he did he consciously accepted the risk of other users reacting strongly to it. Those users would then have to be banned of course....

Is it that different from the time counter since the last race he didn't abandon? Posted twice in the Andy thread.

I have not verified this (and have no intention of searching through 20+ pages of Andy-bashing) but from what I understand it was first posted by LaFlorecita, a user quite famous for taking part in lengthy action-reaction baiting-bashing wars of words, and immediately caused a strong reaction from another user. So in that sense, no, it is not that different.

The one difference that might be pertinent is if you personally created the second count-up, a question to which I cannot find out the answer, but since you ignored the accusation in my previous post I interprete your silence as quiet acknowledgement.

As for myself, I post any information that I find and deem interesting about Andy, be it positive or negative. Heck, I was the first to post about him getting his license suspended. I find information on sites of regional newspaper websites and consider that few people have access to it, so I post it. The reason I didn't know that it had been posted before is, again, that I didn't want to go through 20+ pages of Andy-bashing. In fact, I try to stay out of that thread as much as possible, so as to offer as little opportunity for baiting as possible. I was simply surprised to see that Andy-related baiting now is not limited to a few infamous users anymore, but has apparently spread to the modship. I don't really care about what you posted, I just call it what I see it: baiting. Additionally, several other users have expressed concern about your post.

So you posted the same thing as LaFlo, where she was baiting, but you weren't?

Big deal, he's mocking a rider. Imagine that on a cycling forum. People around here are way too sensitive.

They are the most readable threads too IMHO.

Is there a list of current active mods here? We could follow them and do do our own moderating. Objective that is?

It would be interesting to see who is spending time moderating and who is just reacting like the personality police

Yep, I take all the Andy stuff as a bit of fun, not sure why people would get annoyed over it and take it so seriously.

Also I have adblock so don't notice the ads but if I need to sign in, just disable it on the page and sign in and then re-enable it, takes a few seconds, ideally wouldn't be a needed but might be helpful to some.

It is all about the intent behind the post and you can perfectly work that out for yourself.

Think of it this way, if one of your favorite riders was constantly mocked and insulted in almost every post about him, would you still think of it as all just a bit of fun? I'm willing to bet it would greatly annoy you, as the constant insults to Andy get annoying to me at times.

Why, are you related to him?

Perhaps if that whiny little *** actually accomplished something on the bike without looking over his shoulder for his brother every other minute he'd get less flak around here. Of course receiving non-stop praise from the likes of Shill Liggett doesn't help either. But somehow being endorsed by a delusional geriatric is fitting. :)

Read my post again, I'm sure you'll find why I find the insults annoying there.

I didn't say the insults and mocking wasn't justified (although many times it isn't). I attempted to shed some light on why some posters get annoyed by the constant insults.

No thanks, I don't take the topic seriously enough. If you'll notice, I was just trolling. :D

Most likely I would, at the very worst I just wouldn't be bothered by it and ignore it, I guess people are different but can't think of any situation where if someone I like (in any sport) is getting a bit of a mocking it would bother me.
