Uh what? Sorry but neither Nazism nor Hitler is what springs to (my) mind when I see a picture such as:

It is a swastika. If we put that into the context of the whole discussion, it was at best not a smart move, at worst pure baiting.

There is some serious industrial strength trolling going on in this thread.

I wonder if the next one to get banned will moan about it on Twitter as well?

Playing dumb has long proven to be an effective way to delay a ban. Why such tactics are tolerated though is beyond me.

12 hours ago you said, 'how about we move on' and now you are back in the thread posting your opinions.

How about you follow your own advice.

My advice was to "move on" from discussing the particular poster, and the issues surrounding him, that were dominating this thread.

My current opinions are based on what is unfolding in the aftermath of that.
Different posters.
Different issues.

With your permission, I will continue to express those opinions.

Granny for kvetch mod.

I could take that a number of ways.

GRANNY for Kvetch Mod! Vote Now! (Granny is running for the position of kvetch mod)

OR

Granny for kvetch, mod. Translated "Granny lingo for kvetch, mod, sir." But kvetch IS granny lingo. Not modern urban dictionary stuff.

OR

Granville is kvetching. Put him up as the "Kvetch Mod". AHA, I think THAT must be the winner!

It sounds like double standards when at first you tell everyone to move on but then you post more opinions about the banned poster. Now you are saying it was different posters, different issues. Doesn't really matter, it's all the same topic.

More importantly, members should be allowed to express their views to the moderators about BigMac's ban in the mod thread. It feels like you are discouraging this.

Opine away.

Not sure why my post in the Hincapie thread was deleted. But whatever...

(I had previously deleted several attempts at posting due to the fact that the forum is a mess right now and wouldn't format my posts correctly. I then made a humorous response to Mew's post though. Was that it? The very lighthearted sense of humor that I employed?)

What he said was not that bad, but from the by-blow I get I think he earned the perma for insisting on continuing with the same train of thought. He got a number of warnings - it was not a surprise.

If you aren't going to use the member suspension thread, why not just delete it? I see butterhead has been banned, but yet again nothing has been posted there...

And why is all of his posts from the last three months deleted??? Seems quite an abuse of mod power.

I banned butterhead. And have posted the reason in the suspension thread. Sorry it took me an hour, I had to do some work at work.

I also deleted all his posts because of his attitude and comments towards me...he brought this and removal of his CN "persona" on his own (butter)head through his vile obnoxious comments and attitude in PM exchange.

I don't have to put up with shit like that, if any of you want to play that card there is only going to be one result.

EDIT: looking back at my inbox I have noticed (s)he did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I can remember at the time being really annoyed but said what the hey and I let it slide

I get that he should be banned for abusing another member, but why is it worse to abuse a mod than it is to abuse anyone else? And why should all his non-abusive posts be deleted?

Its not worse to abuse a mod. Its just what happened. If he had of abused you with the same posts in the Alberto thread he would also have been banninated.

Because of the things he said, I have wiped him. Tough. As I said, I don't have to put up with that kind of shit.

Okay. It's just that your post in the suspension thread makes it seem like it was aggravating that he abused a mod.

butterhead is permabanninated for abusing a mod (moi) with putrid vile language in a PM exchange. Having a thick skin is one thing, putting up with **** like that is another

General warning gentle(wo)men, losing the plot with a mod will not be tolerated

On another note (now that he is gone), I'm ~70% confident he was xrayvision. Who also disappeared after he was banned for insulting a mod...

two things about the reasoning:

first is the operative bit was really "putrid vile language in a PM exchange", (s)he just happened to do it to a mod in the middle of a discussion about toning it down a notch.

second I took the opportunity to post a general warning because it is not acceptable to abuse a member just because they are a mod. There are no special dispensations.

In this instance (s)he happened to abuse a mod. Same result would happen if (s)he abused a non-mod.
