My take isn't necessarily the so called 'threat'...but how many times he was getting banned...with users or mods, he had to get the last word.

Even in the sidebar thread yesterday when I and the other main protagonists of that thread had stopped, he wanted to keep going.

And I guarantee you he was given more leeway than 99% of the posters on this forum, and you haven't seen a fraction of the complaints, refusals to comply and general time-wasting of the mods that happened back-channel. The number of bans and warnings was 10x what other posters have gotten.

I don't like the perma-ban, but I am hardly surprised.

If/When Dr. Maserati starts posting again with a new username will he be banned or allowed to post like several others here who have been banned but post under new names?

As hog's biggest fan i have to say zen hog is annoying me. I'm just betting he can't keep it up.

Well I'm just so surprised. People acting like a parent died or something.

Dr M should apologise and let's have him back. And get on with the program.

Making suggestions about banned posters etc. and fair and unfair treatment etc. is pointless. Guessing identities etc.

How many times have I been banned? And each and every time I thought I was doing the right thing. But each time I never took it out on the mods. I accepted my bans and moved on.

Too many are hung up on other posters. Move on.

Bring the guy back in 2 weeks with a final warning and I'm sure he'll be good.

I don't think apologizing is anywhere in the CoC.

It's in the life skills manual. He was obtuse and rude to Berzin and disrespected his authority.

Right or wrong you can't behave like that. I believe I have done so in the past and have been banned.

Life.

The Doc was banned for demanding that no moderator action be taken on his posts.
So is that the "official" version, seeing that it's coming from a mod, and all?

I don't know but we do all act like school children, do we not?
At times—when treated as such—unfortunately, yes.

Susan Westemeyer said:
Why do you assume it was Berzin who banned him?
That is a snide response that does little (nothing, actually) to move the conversation forward. It also further incites the forum in their distaste/distrust of the mods in general.

Susan Westemeyer said:
A discussion by persons not involved in the decision and not knowing all that has gone on.
OK, are we talking about Edward Snowden and the NSA, or Dr Mas and the CN forums? Again, more cryptic responses about information that apparently should be withheld from the very people make that up the forum seems, to me, just a tad bit too "parental"—and we know what that can lead to (see my exchange with thehog above).

It was a group decision and one of the mods -- not Berzin -- volunteered to do the deed.
The "deed" being...moving their cursor over the bright, little "ban" thingy? Or were there lines and lines of code that needed to written by someone brave enough and determined enough to stay up all night, with bleeding fingertips and bloodshot eyes, until the arduous task had finally been overcome, for the greater good of all mankind?

Not trying to pick on you, Susan, as I'm sure you've better things to do with your time, and I've always maintained a courteous and respectful relationship with you in the past. But you, of all people, should realize, and be willing to admit, that this never would've happened under the watch of Francois, Martin and Barrus. I think that's something worth contemplating.

the art of being a mod is learning how to diffuse and redirect. Also instead of head on assault an out -of -view approach via pm might have helped smooth things and lessen the antagonism.

thus averting the loss of a valuable member of the forum.

While I may not have agreed with everything Mas said I am still disappointed that is came to this.

Maybe the mods could have a group chat about banning Digger for outing Vickers the other night. That would be a more productive use of time than banning a poster arguing with a moderator.

Ah, so the mods are knowingly allowing banned members to post. How evil of them.

I think there is another issue. Why are certain users allowed to reply to others, but not Vice versa?

My view would be to let it be.

As I said the mods do things for the benefit of the entire forum. Best for all involved to allow time to pass and all will be forgotten.

In other words; it's a non-issue.

Yes, they are. Not sure if evil is the word I would use. Odd maybe. But it does clear the way for a new user named Dr. Ferrari to post

That would be incredibly lame.

Dr. Lamborghini, maybe?

It seems as if those banned are willing to have a positive convo with the mods via pm etc and they can work out the problems that even those banished may be invited back…

always a second/third chance right? ;)

If that what it takes to bring Mas back I would support his reinstatement.

I agree. Always a second and third chance... with some modification to posting style! :)

Well, that all depends. If he uses subtly, he will likely be caught, or called out by another, then receive an instant ban.

If, however, he is rather blatant and obvious, then he will probably be allowed to continue as long as he wants. I believe that is in accordance with the current rules.

(BPC may disagree, of course)

There are/were people who posted under new/similar usernames after they were handed a perma-ban, and mods know it, so my guess is it is perfectly ok for Maserati to create a new account and start posting again. I doubt he is coming back though, unless the lobby responsible for the ban says they're sorry or whatever.

Why was my reply to myrideissteelerthanyours deleted (about how long Andy has been injured)?

The mod who did it is welcome to PM me.

Patently absurd on every level.
