If anyone thinks we are shutting down simple communication of information, or common sense then I wholeheartedly disagree.

We would love to see the forum prosper with diversity in both poster background and opinions shared.

Sure you do. As my last post, I could urge people to take a look at threads from a few years ago and marvel at the number of posters who are now banned or no longer post. At the same time they could compare the lively and raucous posts that attracted readers and made it an interesting forum that used to be referenced in other social media. But instead I will sum up the situation with a simple anecdote: Floyd Landis joined this forum and was quickly perma-banned. That's some mighty fine moderating there, Lou.

The clinic is pretty much dead and it's not hard to figure out why. If the mods shut down every single topic that gets slightly controversial, pretty soon there won't be any discussions left.

These days there are much better platforms for doping related talk out there like twitter and even other forums. That wasn't the case a few years ago.

I don't think you can sum up the dynamics of a cycling forum naturally peaking with the final showdown on Lance like above.

If throwing jabs at moderation with "headline" reasoning is how you want to slam the door, then okay.

Still hope to see you around. I know you are able to contribute real value.

And another thing on moderation.

I read that we are shutting down conversation, some call it "lively debate".

The thing is that some will always think we are to heavy-handed while others think we are being to soft.

One thing I noticed is that both "groups" of posters report postings.

That's a tricky thing to balance for us.

It is very difficult to satisfy a need for more leeway when posters continuesly lambast and report eachother.

This forum has to be for everyone, and not just those enjoying hefty exchange.

You are always free to offer us feedback here, or in pm's.

I'll just say that most moderation (and reasons for such) here will be invisible many posters. That is because we take action before the majority of the forum has even noticed what went on. And therefore the actions of ours are naturally not always measurable to the visible "crimes" because the "evidence" is gone.

Basically since becoming a mod I've been seing many things in a different perspective, and I hope you will all consider that sometimes you are robbed on full clarity in certain issues as you do not have the luxury of complete access as we do.

Well we know that Lance also was here and was banninated for life so there is that. Anyhow you should rethink the taking your ball and going home. Stay and play for a little while longer.

Well when I say "We know" just the special super top shelf group we have here. Sort of like a tree house club.

Gosh, I would have thought I would have known that, being Mom Mod here from the very beginning and all.....
But he was Susan (tic) He really was.

To bad for the fun I guess. I mean really could have been some fun.

How was it a personal attack to respond to a post where someone says "your pictures are silly" with "your argument and logic is silly"?

That's quite the opposite of a personal attack. Its a direct attack on the argument and logic.

Still no one answered the question . What names did Lance and Floyd use if they were on here?
who banned them and why?
Are you asking Mods this?

If you are, I would direct you to Susan's comment above.

http://forum.cyclingnews.com/viewtopic.php?p=1836357#p1836357

It appears that she didn't know anything about them being members of the forum. She's the longest running Admin, so if anyone would know it would be her. IMO

I understand the curiosity that anyone would have if a couple notorious figures in cycling history had forum accounts but at the same time this isn't the thread to discuss if those people ever posted comments here. Mainly because even if they did have accounts, we would never reveal a forum members identity, therefore eliminating the anonymous nature of this site.

Well that's a shame . I would like to have seen some of their posts. They are permanently banned now so identity is not relevant. From what Glen-Wilson said he knew and others must know.

Send us a PM Glen

Perfectly civil request, introducing a subject of which many of us will have had experience, one frankly rude and dismissive reply, and then the thread is locked. Why?

I'd like an answer to this also. It was the user's first post on this forum, and then to be dismissed like that by a moderator is not very welcoming treatment of a newcomer.
