The Choice

There was a stupid "worst cheater" poll, with choices that included an absurd choice: LeMond. LeMond is obviously not a cheater.

Then along comes the censor who deletes LeMond from the poll.

Which is worse? The stupid poll, or the content-moderating censor?

Only one was the product of a COMPLETE JERK.

It's a poll. Someone erected such a poll for opinions on said poll. Whats wrong with having poll's?

I put Lemond back in the poll, but you're completely out of line here.

Fwiw:
I would argue that in general 'the Clinic' and the mods have been over-protective of Lemond, but I thought that decision by irondan to revoke his earlier decision was classy. Upthread I criticized the mods for not (always) reflecting on their decisions (enough), but now I have to praise irondan for doing exactly that, reflecting on his decision.

I dont like that things abourt SKY, and I dont like team with big money, and I dont like newspapers so close to teams, but things always worrk that way. In spain with contador or Valverdeis the same, is normal, and before was the same with Banesto and Indurain.

I dont like that of walsh, but I understand it is normal that a journalist who has fight againt doping support the team most have do againts doping in cycling history.

Some people could now dont see that, I unerstand his reasons, people could dont like the way SKY do things, but in the future people will admit that. it is a question of time. I dont like a lot of things of SKY, but it is amazing what he can do in a lot of aspect that have been revolutionaries in cycling, so I must recognize that and gratefull to show other people how to improve performance without doping.

I really have missed you in the Clinic... please.. just one 'cleans' for old times sake? :)

A Valverdeis just won't do.

Real classy, making fun of a non-native's English.

This is the first I've heard about where the term originated from.
I remember someone asking a long time ago to explain, but s/he never got an answer.
I just chalked it up to Clinic lingo I wasn't aware of and had a little chuckle every time it popped up in conversation.
For what it's worth, I'd like to say there is no ill-intent behind repeating the term. It's just funny for those easily amused (like me).
But if using the term offends the op, then yeah, cut it out.

All the bold bits apply for me, as well.

+1, had no idea the origin, just seemed to fit somehow.

No, I was talking about the "cleans" thing. Shoulda quoted the Hog.

If the "native" can't even type Spanish riders correctly, do you really think they are taking it seriously?

Cleans should remain. It's folklore now, just like tailwind :)

Exactly.

The "native" has been posting here for four years and the English hasn't improved one iota. Its really weird because the English was good enough four years ago for the poster to be able to read and understand and post in the forum.

That just doesn't fly. If you are good enough to learn a language, you are good enough to be able to iron out a few basic mistakes over several years when you are actively using the language pretty much every day, by participating on an online forum.

So some people suck at languages. And?

If he sucked at languages he wouldn't have the ability to post on here.

To be able to post every day on the forum in a foreign language and be able to understand every word is pretty damn advanced level.

It is advanced, but don't forget that understanding a foreign language is much easier than expressing oneself in it.

I sometimes pause when I write the word "clean", and think about putting an s on the end of it because it's so prevalent in the forum.

As I've said before, we're not going to change any thread titles to say "cleans" so there's no point in continuing this discussion in the "moderators" thread. If anyone wants to discuss the nuances of translating to the English language we already have a thread for that.

Please keep this thread open for commenting on moderation of the forum.

Cheers

Any more than a passing mention of Froome vs. Contador belongs in the Froome vs. Contador thread. So if you want to carry on a discussion of Froome vs. Contador you should do it in that thread. This thread is for discussion of Contador.
Can I have a thread for Froome vs Quintana as well?
