Danilo Hondo (in the Giro, winning a sprint for 3rd, with the person who finished 2nd rolling over the line just in front of him).

He laughed about it himself afterwards though :D

No Cavendish?

Losing half a season to have a shiny white smile is one thing, losing a career through carelessness is another. So I went for Contador.

How can one of the most important american cycling experts, Phil Ligget be a moron?

"The race organization (Tour of California) is equal to or better than the Tour de France." - Phil Ligget

"The prologue we have for the Tour of California is as good as the prologue for the Tour de France" - Phil Ligget

And Pat McQuaid, he is just saying what no one wants to hear - the truth

He does that in all his GTs. And that's why I never see him winning one.

Now we know you're trolling, keep up the bad work.

I know that the main thing that keeps me a cycling fan is prologues. Lots of prologues. Lots of long, epic prologues. Lots of epic mano a mano prologues. Ah, prologues.

We really need to try to some sort of consensus on Cuddles. It's a given that he sucks, but does he suck because he never attacks or because he attacks too hard.

Actually personally i love them in gts. So long as its a big city and the people love cycling. Before the easier days of week 1, its always nice to have huge crowds, a good competition for the leaders jersey and a good competition between the gc guys.

2 of the great ones this year, because Holland is just that great for cycling, Rotherdam because of the people despite the rain and some epic scenes over the erasmus bridge. But amsterdam has to take the cake. Equally bad weather equally great crowds a great gc competition, interest all the way through to see how much time the gc guys lose, and very very close finishing times.

Looking forward to Liege 2012. Not a great city size wise but its in Belgium which should be enough.

Did you include this oxymoron deliberately? If so, good work.

Not just to show I can agree with you, but also because, prologues are great, for all the reasons Hitch lists.;)

This year thinking about Wiggo in particular they show how bike racing and winning is a state of mind, and not about 'marginal gains'.

If we are going to get meta ACF is clearly the most moronic poster of the year, assuming that is meant in a nice way - ie he is brilliant fun.

I've remembered another one:

Anyone who seriously thought that Cancellara had a motor in his bike at the classics. Davide Cassani going the full ***.

I wonder why so many people are making these mistakes in the "Moron of the year" thread. must be a curse or something.:p

Point:

David Cassani didnt accuse Cancellara of a motor in his bike. He said it was possible to have a motor in your bike then someone else took the video and added Cancellara PR and RVV videos with annotations. Unidentified internet personality made the accusation not Cassani.

I was wondering about this lately. I know it's off topic but I'm still going to ask the question and then we can go back to discussing the biggest moron of the year. Plus, this kind of relates to David Cassani possibly being the moron of the year.

Anyhow, my dad recently bought an electro-bike. Unfortunately I don't remember the brand, but it's a pretty good one in the sense that it's rather light for an electro-bike. It's still A LOT heavier than any top-of-the-notch carbon racing bike though. So m question is: wouldn't Cancellara's bike be much heavier than all the others if it really contained a motor/battery? This would give him a big disadvantage, not to mention the organizers would have noticed right away, since they certainly weighed his bike.

Or are there motors/batteries that are that light that the chaperones wouldn't have noticed/that it wouldn't have given Cancellara a considerable disadvantage?

London was a great prologue despite the British don't love cycling.
Huge enthusiastic crowd even though it clashed with Wimbledon.F1 GP and sellout concerts at Wembley and the dome.

all right ill bite.

If thats the definition then i nominate the people behind this conversation

A: Hey, Cadel
B: Hey, how are you going?
A: Not bad, yourself?
B: Not too bad
A: (While Cadel is signing) Heard you had a fire at your place last night? (power pole was on fire)
B: (Laughs) yeah, but everything is alright now. (Cadel hands back the book)
A: thanks Cadel, hopefully next time you are in Australia you have a tdf trophy with you.
B: Yeah me too. See you.

LOL, set up like a half volley outside off.

While I wouldn't use the word "Moron", and this is a Road Race forum, my favourite for the year is similar to the Vac guy, but funnier because of his status:

Sir Chris Hoy, thinks he's got his round 1 sprint won at the Euro champs and starts soft pedalling only to have some no-name keep riding hard and come over the top. Mucking up his qualification for London 2012 a little (in that he has to travel to Oz when he originally didn't plan to).
