Mosquera positive in the Vuelta

Sad news. I liked Mosquera. I knew he doped ( and yes FoxyBrown, i did say that many times on your thread ;) ) but i am of the opinion that doping is still rife. I am sure Nibali doped as well, positive or no positive. Same with Peter, same with Andy, same with Dennis and Carlos (mentioned on this thread).

There was a report of high doses Clen being found in European, but especially(tahdah) Spanish Beef. This was Belgian research (jan 2009).

If we want to dive into conspiracy theories then that could be the most extreme example of systematic doping of a nation ever.

wait a bit, the substance is not banned! the riders are not suspended, the substance might be used as maskant, but in itself is not a dopping case.

It might end in a further investigation too and a small sanction.

god, what a crazy day!!!!!

You could not have said it better.
I am simply so shocked today.
First I check this morning, Cancellara has won. All glad of course, and then suddenly Alberto gets caught.
Then Mosquera.
Now Ricco.
What is going on? I really love this sport, and I will definitely continue to do so, but all this news is making me sad :(

Wow, there goes any credibility you may have had in the Contador threads.

I did not know that:rolleyes:

This is obviously only relevant if the patient has lost a dangerous amount of blood plasma. A cyclist would use it to decrease htc by diluting the blood.

Why am I not surprised? Mosquera goes from having only 1 win in his entire career to being one of the best climbers in the world and dropping everyone in the Vuelta at the age of 35. We don't need no stinking doping test to see that he is clearly a doper. This isn't rocket science, people.

You dont know much about Mosqueras career do you? Libertine Seguros did a very nice post on this a few weeks ago showing where Mosquer had been all his career and his performance at the Vuelta wasnt that surprising.

No, a poster on here called Libertine Seguros who seems to spend most of his time watching continental and Portugese cycle races, the places where Mosquera was competing before he moved up to the Vuelta in 07.

With a name like that, it's hard for me to take what he says seriously.

You should judge posters by their posts after reading them, not their nicknames. Where's Dr Maserati? :D

Yes, the article says that according to both UCI and the Spanish Federation the positive for that substance leads to a warning but not a suspension. Now, my question is what the *** is a warning and what it means in terms of disciplinary actions?

Sevilla and Mosquera doing a 'Delgado'

I give you the benefit, because you was sooo close. You even believed in "my" too old to get stronger theory. You just didn´t take the next step to say: yes i think he did dope. You believed in the good as i once did (and still do with the young Velits and Nibali :)).

But to be honest i am little proud, since i got a lot of flak in the other thread.

The UCI looks more and more like the Keystone Kops. You can test positive for a plasma expander used to mask a high hematocrit. That is only worth a warning. Test positive for trace amounts of a substance that any serious doper would not be taking and it is ban hammer time. Someone has their priorities backasswards.
