I love the "Best of the Best" movies with Eric Roberts. I have the first 2 shows. The soundtrack is brilliant and this show and the music in it makes me want to go out and climb Verbier like Contador did in the 09 Tour.
But really i am a massive Stallone fan. Even outside of the Rockys and Rambos i love Cobra, Lock Up, Nighthawks and Over the Top. The soundstracks to Cobra and Over The Top are brilliant also.
Yeah, massive.
My massive gusto is somehow mostly limited to first Stallone movies.
Rocky 1 - 4. No doubt. Masterpieces and just history. Still realistic, and everything fits together, like a fist on an eye. Story, character, selection of soundtracks just brilliant. Eye for all those little details.
It influenced and touched the viewer, which always describes a good movie.
The music part is very important for a good movie, and never easy to choose and to make it fit together. That part was perfect and causing the real emotion, having a huge part on the movie's success and aura as a whole.
Fights and trainingscenes aside, for example this little scene that reflects what happens to a suffering man, when there is no easy way out.........
You of course sit into your car, drive a lonely, dark Autobahn, and turn on "There's no easy way out", to just put your foot on gaspedal till it reaches the bottomplate.

Or you just sit on your bike and try to beat yourself.
Thats a little scene for showing that perfection is possible.
I think in early years, Stallone was able to unite those famous minimum- and maximum principles, which is said not to be possible.
Don't really bother him, but later his movies only became "just another one of those Stallone action movies". But ok, you can't top First Rambo or Rockys anyway. Those are his testaments and monuments in filmhistory he will always be remembered for. And things always change, people change.
You can actually notice the decline even in the Rocky movies, not so much obvious like in Rambo saga, while then the "John Rambo" was good and simple again.
Can't say that about Rocky V. That was a huge fail which didn't do him ans Rocky any favours. Red card for that one.
That decline i felt, is the main sagas and especially those other movies becoming bigger, getting unrealistic, that brilliant simpleness gone, too bombastic and totally overloaded.
btw, Verbier ? That little climb ?
Contador 09 ? When he just sank that old man ?
Those "Best of the Best" movie and soundtracks must be lower than average I guess.
