Moving across state, need advice/suggestions

Hey everyone. So me and my family have an out of state move coming up in about 6 months or so and we have never done anything like this before. I was wondering if there is anyone here that has that can lend their thoughts on the pros and cons of hiring professional vs amateur movers vs self moving. We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 car garage house full of stuff and would like to do this the safest, easiest, most cost effective way possible.
