Good win by Oconnor. But I'm really positively surprised by Tratnik, he was really strong today and could've won in different circumstances. Hopefully he gets more chances to ride for himself.

Tratnik:

"Yeah, in the end it's a nice beginning of the season. You know, if I would have legs on this long climb, I would also (have) been in the first group. So the long climb was a little bit difficult for me. But yeah, the last one suits me well, and I also felt a little bit better in the end of the race. So yeah, I must say that I'm satisfied."

Well, if Saturday was Remco-Day, then Sunday is Wout-Day. Although I think WvA will be leadout man and not sprint himself.

Apparently the course of Jaen will change due to bad weather. Many gravel sections will be deleted and the length will be reduced to 151km.

Hmm, if the remaining sectors are in sufficient condition, they should still be able to do a circuit with those?

EDIT: Or rather, to do the circuit more than once:

They changed the circuit a bit I think but yes, why not do the new circuit just more than once.
This might just become a sprint now honestly.

No it won't.

Well yeah obviously not a bunchsprint, but if they're going to the finish with 40 guys they'll have a problem.
And sure very possible that there's a small group going clear, but there might be some sort of somewhat group sprint behind and this finish really isn't made for it at all.

Other than Benidorm, I honestly can't remember Van Aert ever riding in Spain. Weird stuff.
And you're right, he never has done a road race in Spain, at least not according to a quick glance through his Procyclingstats profile. Except parts of the Tour de France, like last year.

One of those dull formulaic races where there is no meaningful action because every team is basing their strategy on a bunch sprint so they are barely even doing training ride pace.

That said I am still watching!
