There's that video of Ball and Chain from Monterey Pop festival; their coming out performance more of less. Occasionally I watch "First Time Viewing.." videos and there is one that is pretty funny. Several Gen Z girls, slackily listening and talking over the music for about 15 seconds and then just listening. They stopped the video and one commented "that girl listening looks like she feels like I do". She couldn't have known the amazed audience member was Queen of Laurel Canyon: Mama Cass Elliot. Cass' expression showed what kind of mind explosion occurred when Janis sang. Wished for many it went on longer.

another reason to miss the PNW, Seattle, P-town and Vancouver. Music was everywhere, accessible and real.
I lived in Seattle late 80s to mid 90s, so was there when grunge took over. It was awesome! And I didn't even go to any big Nirvana or Soundgarden concerts or anything, my friends and I would just go to the bars and listen to local bar bands, and that was a blast too! So yes, back then music was accessible and just everywhere.
