I am not about ageism but I see people jumping overboard on this music cruise.
BTO - Guess Who..Randy Bachmann is 82
Maybe old(er) people are just being sentimental and are like, eh, we've all made it past the halfway or three quarters point in life, we're all just old farts now, might as well hang with fellow old farts at a concert. (It's true that in American society old people are easily discarded, so maybe just a concert at a fair makes them feel like they still have a place they belong. Personally I think I'd find it a bit depressing, have never attended a concert from bands I liked as a youth and doubt I ever will.)

Make sure you take pictures of you front row as Mick Jagger sings Can't Get No Satisfaction while wearing an oxygen mask!! Lol! Actually most American geriatric music industry has it down pretty well, older groups tour with one another and do recognized hit songs and sit down or take a nap. I am sure the videos of aged Guess Who I am poking fun at are likely using that format. Most older bands don't go out and do @90-120+ headline type sets..That said, I have seen multiple John Mellonhead interviews promoting his new tour.. Go for it..

Actually it’s Keith who can’t play around arthritis anymore. There does seem to be a lot of overhyped marketing of longevity as relevance. If older musicians need to play, they don’t by default need the outsized spectacle.

In my opinion there really is no good reason for bands to fizzle out or people to stop completely but some people have a catalog that is tough to slow down or make it acoustic bring songs down a little. I made fun of guys who are 70,80 trying to run around, some people still can.. While others try to play and do less of the physical demanding stuff

I’m more ambivalent about them, but Ann and Nancy can still sing and play. I wouldn’t say bands need to end, but does the music matter? Some, not everyone, starts from there and some hold on to it. There are alternatives to stadiums
