Hey, usedtobe, check out Endless Boogie. In fact, everyone should listen to them, but I think you in particular will like them. They are 4 guys from Brooklyn who work in a record store and only play shows when asked. (no traditional tours). They play these extended Canned Heat type of jams that are very different from most of the "jam band" thing, but just freaking awesome. A friend of mine who is in the music industry saw them this past Friday and she was blown away. Said she hadn't seen anyone like that since the early 70's. I started an internet search, and heard a couple of songs and went and bought the only CD I could find. (They put out the music on vinyl, but that will have to come later). Amazing stuff.

You have a pretty good list there.
The older I get the more my tasts change. Used to be heavy with the CroMags, Exploited, DRI, Agnostic Front, and the hardcore scene. Now I find myself listening to Dwight Yoakam, Oak Ridge Boys, Almond Bros., The Highwaymen, etc. I did take my youngest to a Jonas Brothers concert last year...just about died from the music and little girl screams...but I made it. What we won't do for our kids.
Susan Westemeyer said:David Allen Coe! I haven't thought of him in ages, but I instantly remember his absolutely classic song, "You Never Even Call Me By My Name," with the most incredible lyrics, for "the perfect country song":
Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train.
