I was on Cake's website yesterday and I never noticed a "new" album on there, but of course I look again now and I find you're right (and I'm obviously blind)!

So is it as good as all the others? :)

Cake album titles always make me laugh. We've got:

Motorcade of Generosity
Fashion Nugget
Prolonging the Magic
Comfort Eagle
Pressure Chief

and now

Showroom of Compassion

How long now until they finally use "Suitcase of Courage"? :D

it flows well and i think I read that it is intended listen like an LP. Rumor is that the live show this tour is a continuous play of the Album but I have not seen or hear a set list. But I have yet to understand a story line song to song if there is one. perhaps I need altered states and headphones :p

Their cover of War Pigs is amazing

my fave song is Walk on By

As you can probably imagine, we don't see much of Cake in our part of the world. One time they played a tiny club in Roubaix of all places, I've no idea why, so I travelled there from Britain just to see them.

The gig was actually not that great in the end, an off-day or jetlag perhaps, but the French would absolutely adore the band regardless because they find them kind of gauche.

Consequently, the one date they're doing in Paris this spring managed to sell out within minutes. I can't get up to Amsterdam to see them because it's midweek, so I guess I'll miss out again. :(

Yep, that War Pigs cover is amazing. My fave is probably Italian Leather Sofa but it's a close-run thing.

Thanks for the tip anyway! I had a brief "cold" listen and didn't think much of the new stuff, but I say that every time they put one out and then it grows on me and I always end up loving and cherishing it. :)

Booker T and the MGs.

Can't beat a bit of Booker, some killer organ grooves. Green Onions gets all the love, but Time is Tight and Soul Limbo are glorious tunes too.

Find a little Lee Michaels. Killer hippie organist from San Francisco that could sing. Short attention/career span, however.

Ok one of my guilty little pleasures right now is going to youtube and watching the videos of something like Paris ROubaix or better yet the crash compilation videos, then i mute the sound and download something like
"Rock me Amadeus" and listen to that as my soundtrack for the video.
It just makes me laugh.:D
seeing some guy suffering up st pats hill is good too:)

Dylan - Don't Think Twice, It's Alright - then whatever iTunes serves up next, it may be Monteverdi.

Nice to know that so many of my fellow cyclists appreciate a wide variety of music. I used to make mix tapes that would have Tangerine dream, Bach, George Thorogood, Ian Drury, Dire Straits, and the soundtrack from American Graffiti etc
so in that vein here is another little youtube clip that makes me smile.
