Well... He was quicker than Froome to respond on uphill accelerations, but we all know Froome has that delay time and there was Henao with him, as well. Regarding the tempo ride, I believe they both were in comfort.

Then all he has to do is ride away with Henao. Doesn't matter if Henao follows him when Froome loses the wheel of Henao.
:D
Neat.

Quintana looks great. More worried about his team.

Tomorrow we will know better how strong he is compared to Froome.

Nairo made his first mistake today, but only for 20secs.
From spring I expect his climbing in july on better level than Froome in the 3rd week so he is still my biggest favourite ftw.

He needs to attack on Ventoux imo.(now conserve energy)

Please support Quintana, the only hope left to mankind to defeat the alien. His father, mother, all his family, they need to give him a call and say: Son, tomorrow you will attack. It seems the only way to convince him to actually try.

Quintana the new Andy Schleck? The eternal bridesmaid.

Even Andy was more charismatic. Y'know, easier to cheer for. This when Quintana's biggest rival is the most hated rider on the peloton and Schleck's was Contador. Says a lot.

Quintana hardly speaks. Does he speak English? The non cycling public don't really know who he is. As for the eternal bridesmaid that's highly premature. Can't we wait another two weeks before we start using those terms? I hope it won't be necessary and little Nairo makes them eat their words.

Wow, Quintana looked on monster form today, nothing to worry about the time loss today. Froome looks very strong also. This is gonna be a very good fight between them.

Agreed. Except now Nairo has to avoid losing time to Froome not just in TT's but on descents!

Unfortunately, I don't think Froome needs to worry about losing time to Quintana on any day except the final MTF. The Colombian seems unable to risk a sustained attack in July.

Quintana has stll have a lot to learn. Too bad, Contador is non factor anymore.

After reading briefly some of the comments, I don't quite get why people are doubting Quintana's ability to win this Tour: Let me remind you all Quintana was far more behind last year by the time the mountains arrived. Yes- he should have been more attentive to Froome's move, but it doesn't mean he already lost the tour. I believe today we're really going to see the real battle.

To me he looked very strong. Clearly, Froome thinks Quintana is very strong too, and he needs every second. I hope he tries something today, but even if he doesn't, I wouldn't be worried.
Hopefully he will learn a lesson from yesterday, and be more focused in future, too.

Agreed, I think this is Quintana's race to lose right now. He knows he can take time on Froome in the mountains later in the race, just needs to stay within touching distance which he has done so far.

I'd like to see him attack and disrupt the Sky train today, even if he doesn't gain any time on Froome. The harder the race is as a whole over the first two weeks, the more it will benefit Quintana in the final week imo.

I rather cheer for Froome than Quintana, quintana makes Froome look like a great rider.

Well Froome is a great rider; clearly the best GT rider of the last five years, so there's no shame in Nairo not having got the better of him yet. But this looks like Quintana's year. No major time losses in the first week, and no flat TT to come - it's a great opportunity for him to really step up.

If Quintana gets the better of him this year, it will be great to see how Froome tries to come back to regain his crown in the next few years. It's got the potential to be the highest quality GT rivalry since Armstrong and Ullrich (and that was always a bit one sided).

I don't think Quintana has anything to worry about yesterdays uphill or downhill performance. He looked very strong. Froome saw/planned that opportunity and surprised everyone and I don't think you can Blame Quintana for not going with it immediately. This is racing. I think most watching thought it was a stupid/rookie move by Froome. Luckily for the other GC riders, Valverde understood the significance otherwise everyone could be looking at a minute lost on first big GC stage like last year.

What? There's literally one guy in the entire peloton that Quintana can't let go, and that's literally what happened. He should have been pedalling full gas after Froome, not sitting up and waiting for Valverde to babysit him
