He actually has a pretty decent chance of winning. Nibali returning after crash, Purito after retirement (lol) and so on. It would be incredible with a monument on his palmarés along with the ranking. Definitely one of the best chances here to grab one.

Edit: And yeah, I know whats going on after winning a GT. People want you, but Nairo has always been very professional, so I hope he won't have lost too much from the Vuelta.

Mmh I think it will not be easy. He will have to attack early, and finish solo because in a sprint it will be nearly impossible...

Wait is Purito coming back for Lombardia?

I would like to see a Contador esque schedule for 2017. No Route du Sud, no Romandie (which I think is bad when you are peaking in the spring - Froome uses it to build towards Dauphine/Tour). There has been debate over whether he should ride Dauphine/Suisse and maybe the time has come for that, but on the other hand, riding Sud shouldn't really hamper him as he did that in 2015 and he didn't race any at all in 2013. But maybe there is something to it, to get a proper race in before the Tour. Reading the rumours of the Tour tho, it seems relatively back loaded.

Guys, Nairo Quintana said allergies were the cause of his TdF 2016 fail, the schedule wasn't an issue. He's a really professionnal rider, with lot of work ethic, he did the same preparation than the 2015 one, so I think he's right. He must work with a naturopath to take away this problem.

From reading a lot of what Quintana has said on the subject, I don't think he or Movistar have any definitive answers to what happened in the Tour. The only thing they know for sure is that he was very weak throughout the race and that his condition never improved. The allergies explanation is just the kind of thing cyclists say when they don't know why their bodies don't respond as expected.

Noooooo!

He said "PERHAPS it was an allergy"
However, he admitted at the beginning of Vuelta that "it was fatigue, no allergies were founds in the checkups"

Wait, fatigue was problem during the Tour? Can only imagine being slightly overtrained then. Because if you really overtrain then you don't win the Vuelta barely a month later.

Cheap nationalism / bandwagoning. I say it as a Colombian.

When was the last time a Colombian of such clearly indigenous descent was given this kind of acknowledgement and acclaim?

Sagan is down by 24 points. 7 stages at Eneco. Each stage winner gets 6 points. Each jersey winner (per day) gets 8 points. Overall winner gets 100,80,70..etc. Can't find full info. Regardless, if Sagan wins stage 1, he will get 6+8 points so that's 14. He wins another stage, is 20. There are other minor points for jersey (points) at the end. The new ranking system, by the way, gives Sagan some points by winning the European Championship. Point is, we can assume that Sagan could pass Nairo at Eneco, since it looks like he may win Stage 1.

Jersey winner doesn't get daily points.

Nairo still has 21 points advantage after today, because in case of a tie Sagan wins easily.

But he's Mestizo. See Dayer, he's clearly Mestizo.

Also being indigenous is a cultural thing here, rather than a "racial" one.

correct, that's what I meant by "at the end". I should have worded it less confusing. :). 21 points and 6 stages to go. Stage 5 is a TTT, so really 5 stages left for Sagan to score points. Tomorrow's short TT can be something Sagan can do good in unless he is saving himself for the sprint stages.
