Dutch Championships Road Race Profile:

hoogtekaart_2012.png

This lap is very much like the loops in the Brabantse Pijl.

The only difference being that in the Brabantse Pijl they do the finishing loop 5 times, while they do this lap 22 times

Armstrong at tour TT 2005: 54.6 km/h (19 km). Zabriskie won (two secs faster ~54.7 km/h). Not a very long TT but longer than a prologue.

That's true. But the differance in length is, in my opinion, too much to rate it above the 2005 one.

According to start times, EBH is starting the TT in Norway in 20 minutes. It's 50km long.
He's currently getting owned by Borgersen, a 32 year old ice-skater.

It's embarrassing to see how ****ty EBH suddenly has become in the ITT this year. It's beyond me why he doesn't train for it. He was one of the greatest ITT talents in the world and now he's completely useless. It's as if his only goal is to become exactly like Hushovd, i.e a great classics/TT talent who would rather be a sprinter and spends the main part of his career in the wrong team.

In all fairness. Speed-skaters (ice) are usually great on bikes. Sven Kramer was 2nd in the junior ITT champs behind Gesink years ago. And 2 years ago he competed in some amateur races and easily won a few.
they appearently use the same sort of muscles and in the summer they train a lot on the bike

But yeah, you would expect Hagen to win.

He still got top-20 in the Dauphine TT. I wouldn't call that completely useless, and at that level he should certainly be able to beat an amateur.

But doesn't this Borgersen guy always do well at the TT nationals? He certainly doesn't do well at skating, don't think I've ever seen his name there.

Danish TT:

1 Jakob Fuglsang – Radioshack-Nissan 48.12
2 Andre Steensen – Glud & Marstrand-LRØ 48.56
3 Michael Mørkøv – Team Saxo Bank 49.09
4 Mads Christensen – Team Saxo Bank 49.13
5 Brian Vandborg – Spidertech 49.26
6 Alex Rasmussen – Team Garmin-Baracuda 50.24
7 Lasse Bøchman – Glud & Marstrand – LRØ 50.34
8 Chris Anker Sørensen – Team Saxo Bank 50.47

#1 doesn't really surprise me much, #8 on the other hand... guess being on home-turf gave him some sort of advantage.

Sven Kramer is a phenomenal athlete though and is probably one of the most talented endurance athletes in the world. Borgersen wasn't even particularly good at ice-skating...Also, last year EBH beat Borgersen easily, catching up to him early and eventually won by 2 minutes without exhausting himself.

Definitely not looking good for the TDF. Perhaps Kerrison trains him too hard, I don't know. Because he should've won this easily even on a road bike...

Steensen really has stepped up his game since joining glud & marstrand. I think he has the talent to be a part of the world tour again.

Did Borgersen end up winning the TT?

Here's the top 10 from the Norwegian championship:

1. Reidar Borgersen (Joker Merida) 1.01,55
2. Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Sky) +11
3. Lars Petter Nordhaug (Tønsberg CK) +42
4. Lorents Ola Aasvold (Plussbank BMC) +1,55
5. Truls Engen Korsæth (Lillehammer CK) +2,17
6. Andreas Landa (OneCo-Mesterhus Cycling Team) +2,51
7. Bjørn Tore Nilsen Hoem (Plussbank BMC) +2,54
8. Alexander Randin (Ringeriks-Kraft Look)
9. Kjetil Johansen Amundrud (Oslostudentenes IK Sykkel) +3,03
10. Max Emil Kørner (Ringeriks-Kraft Look) +3,06

Compare to last year:

1 Edvald Boasson Hagen (Lillehammer CK/Team Sky) 1.03.06
2 Reidar Borgersen (Modum CK/Joker Merida) +2.01
3 Lorents Ola Aasvold (CK Nor/Plussbank Cervélo) +4.06
4 Vegard Stake Laengen (Asker CK/Joker Merida) +4.12
5 Stian Saugstad (Ringeriks-Kraft) +5.25
6 Geir Inge Berg (Sandnes SK) +5.47
7 Mikael Schou (Ringeriks-Kraft) +6.31
8 Andreas Landa (IF Frøy) +6.32
9 Vegard Breen (Joker Merida) +6.45
10 Max Emil Kørner (IF Frøy) +7.01

As you can see, Borgersen's gap to the other cyclist's has remained the same, so I don't think the explanation is that he did a great ride. The big difference is that Edvald seemingly has become 2 minutes slower (relatively, of course). It seems as if his form has completely vanished since the Dauphine. Or perhaps he was just feeling like crap since he just returned from altitude.

Even Gesink wasn't good at Suiise on first day ;)

I'll expect more from EBH in the RR.

If he returned from altitude within 3 days of the championship I say you shouldn't worry. Then it's normal

Are you kidding? There weren't even some amateurs who fancied a ride?

Of course it was just one race with all the different categories in it. However no other Elite pro rider older than 23 apart from Gastauer showed up today.
