Just meaning that Ventoso being the fastest of the three was not exactly surprising. Movistar would never pull the péloton with Ventoso off the front, as of course they'd trust him to outsprint Mancebo and Pacheco (though Pacheco isn't slow).

He wasn't near the front, I'm sure he could follow the group that chased boonen if he was at the right place.

Yes, but my point is that Euskatel chased and caught them, simply Ventoso was strong enough to have another go
