Lucinda Brand takes the Dutch nationals in a 100km solo break. Vos outsprints van Vleuten for 2nd, so it's an all-Rabo podium. For much of the way Brand held a gap over the quartet of Vos, van Vleuten, Amy Pieters (Argos-Shimano) and Ellen van Dijk (Specialized-Lululemon). A second group containing Sabrina Stultiens and Loos Gunnewijk among others briefly made it back but were killed off by a van Vleuten attack. Pieters was the first of the quartet to break, probably as, with a Rabo up the road, she and van Dijk were doing most of the pacing. With 1 lap to go, van Dijk had a catastrophic mechanical failure and had to wait for over a minute for a spare bike, walking sullenly around the roadside with riders pouring past her. That just left two Rabos chasing a Rabo, so the impetus went out of the chase, Vos happy enough to let a teammate have it seeing as she already has the rainbows, and van Vleuten tried to cut the break for a while but quickly gave up, with a casual shrug to the cameras when she recognised Brand was gone.

Nice race, with a disappointing finish. Marianne Vos practically had to ride the final lap in tourist tempo, otherwise she'd have won easily. Of course it's nice that Lucinda Brand gets rewarded for a 100+ k solo, but still...

dutch u23 race was funny.. 3 rabo's riding away and the rest of the field instantly beaten. Eventually the weakest rabo was dropped and Van Baarle and Theunissen (the same guy that became world cyclo u23 champion) continued. Van Baarle was the strongest and won easily.

Van Baarle is really too strong already. I have confidence in him though because of his track background, those riders tend to do well. But then again he's already built like a pro so his margin for improvement is probably small...

Very happy Santaromita won the Italian RR. He has been riding very well this season and has showed a lot of promise.

Only 73 contestants...I always wondered why so few care about the nationals? Such a shame :(
Those last kms were quite entertaining! Scarponi was clearly the strongest, yet Santaromita played very nicely his cards! A good and deserved win!
Really impressed by De Marchi...such a strong will! He's surprising this year, a rider to follow more closely in the future!

Today it's ITT time: Malori vs Boaro showdown? Moser seems to be in no-form whatsoever, Pinotti is definitely past his best and Cataldo's form is a question mark.

Laurens Ten Dam has been riding well of late. I reckon he'll win the Dutch one. He's the rider they will probably send into the early break. Leave Mollema, Boom and Gesink for if the break is caught.

I think Boonen will be the Belgian champion.

Clearly the strongest? Santaromita reacted to his attacks every time with little trouble and attacked himself many times.

Actually he reacted in third wheel dude, and everytime he attacked he didn't start attacking right after catching up on Scarponi, which shows he definitely wasn't stronger.
And really, if Scarponi didn't wait so much in the end, he would've caught him: the twisty finish favoured Santaromita.

That doesn't subtract anything from his great ride, and as I said a very deserved win and a nice winner!

I think the ITT will be too long for Manuele (mind I don't know the length but since Manuele is only good at tts <20 km I bet it's too long)

Looks like a solo ride with a huge win margin. Only 16 riders (out of a hundred or so) finished.

Ten Dam winning the dutch title would be a very big surprise. I don't see it happening.

Like last year the weather is crap again. So it's interesting what will happen.
Boom, Terpstra or Mollema is my bet.

Gesink crashed hard in the neutral zone, pain in his shoulder, so no Gesink as Dutch champion.

The race was only 400 metres old when Gesink crashed. Unbelievable, are there any other cyclist who are also having trouble with keeping on the bike as much as Bobby G?

Hope for him that it is only a minor injury.

He crashes about once a year, which really isn't much, but yeah... once you have the image of a loser and a terrible bike handler, it's hard to get rid of it.
