The Aussie race two years ago with Porte, Evans and Gerrans was quite entertaining

will there be a livestream or something for people outside of oz?

Curious to know this too. Do these races normally get televised locally?

The Aus National gets put on prime time TV Live here

That's great! I'm sure there will be a stream up somewhere then. Anyone know about the NZ champs?

Ewan wins the Criterium and Dennis beats Porte in the TT.
Ewan has been destroying the crits so far this summer. The races he's won have been by 5-6 bike lengths, against decent opposition too. Having said that Edmondson and Haig have done a superb job looking after him so far, riding beyond their years. Hard to believe that these two have only done a couple of races as pros.

Got to feel a little sorry for Brenton Jones, since the Tour of Korea he's been getting a lot of seconds to Ewan.

Patrick Bevin wins the NZ national TT. First race as a pro, first win. Nice going for him.

(This also removes Cannondale from their usual spot as a contender for last WT team to win a race!)

Usual?!

They were late in 2015 but in 2014 they won their first race day of the season discounting NCs (stage 1 of TdSL for Gaimon). In 2012 they were quick as well and in 2011 and 2010 they won both Australian NC races.

Unless you count old Cannondale as post-Liquigas, not Garmin, but that doesn't make much sense.

By the way: where is Jack Bauer? Is he still recovering from his TdF crash? He would be a strong favourite to win national ITT race in this field. And he isn't riding Tour Down Under which was on his schedule for previous 4 seasons.

It means that both of their neopros are national TT champions, which is a bit unusual. Perhaps an indication that they are looking to improve their TTT abilities, given that it was once their greatest strength but in recent years they have been desperately poor at it. Swapping Dan Martin for Rigoberto Uran won't have hurt in that regard either.

Very good win for Patrick , he is suppose be a good sprinter who can climb, abit like Mathews. Could be be a future all rounder?

What was the course like? His average speed is not so impressive and as the opposition wasnt that big I dont know how to rate his performance.
I do think he is a nice talent though indeed very all round I heard he was best at steep walls (like Purito).

Think for Cannondale going be good and he will do steep sprints , Wouter will do more flat sprints. The TT tittle say be good PR for Cannondale and bonus not expecting. Might look good in say a team time trial at grand tour.

Slightly better on hills than Matthews but not quite as big a kick. If Nathan Haas could sprint you'd be getting close.

Bevin is a punchy guy who would be good in a TTT. He has a long turn of speed rather than an outright sprint.
