So who are the favourites for the national championships? (I don't even know who's racing...)

my guesses:
Germany: Schachmann
Spain: Valverde
France: Gaudu (Alaphilippe)
Italy: Bettiol (Ulissi)
Belgium: dependent on the course... but probably Merlier?
Netherlands: van der Poel
Denmark: Asgreen (Fuglsang)
Austria: Gogl
Slovenia: the big ones aren't starting, or are they? Mohoric?

I'd rate Formolo & Moscon above Ulissi on a hard, +220km route.
About Austria, maybe Pösti (if he's racing). Gogl won't have a single teammate and if the route isn't super hard the Austrian CT teams can use their numbers (only Bora can probably do something about that).

Almeida starts both the TT and the Road Race in Portugal so his leading position in 'The Amazing Race to Most Top10 Without a Win' competition is in grave danger.

The Belgian Road Race is predominantly flat, with only a short and easy cobbled sector (Herlegemstraat) and a short and easy hill (Holstraat) in the final four laps. This shouldn't be selective enough to avoid a mass sprint so Merlier and Van Aert are probably the biggest favourites. I do hope for some strong winds though that might make it a little harder and more selective.

I'd love to finally see Alaphilippe take the French NC but then again he wouldn't be able to showcase it in the Tour since he's wearing the rainbow stripes.

For Belgium, Merlier has to be favorite, since the only other two who have won against WT opposition in bunch sprints are Van Aert and Philipsen. But Merlier is faster than Philipsen, who is on the same team, and the entire Belgian AF selection is as good or better than Lotto's Belgian selection, with Van Aert being isolated with only Van Hooydonck in support. So, with Merlier being the #1 sprinter in a stacked team, he should be the big favorite.

So, at least van Aert vs. Merlier sounds like a decent battle, I thought van Aert wasn't doing the race.

Van Aert isn't doing the ITT. As i already stated, every Belgian pro is obligated to participate in the road race.

Roadrace:
It is SO hard to call, because it's the toughest field - ever - on a route that a lot of riders can win on.

Anyone of the following:

Fuglsang, Asgreen, Mads P, Kragh, Honore, Cort, Kron, Valgren, Kamp - and then there is a host of outsiders that can win it too.

I'm leaning towards Valgren/Cort, because on a route where only the best will be left in the end, they will be able to use the good old 1-2 punch. So can Asgreen/Honore though, and with Kamp in stellar form recently, he and Mads P may also be there, so who the f... knows

TT:
It's all about Asgreen vs Kragh.

The last podium spot is probably between Bjerg and Norsgaard, though Mads P, Valgren, Cort and Würtz can put in a good TT, now and again (I don't know if they start the TT yet).

Finally there is specialist Toft Madsen (Danish version of Graeme Obree), who can occasionally pull an upset out of nowhere.

No need to look for Van Aert, Wellens or De Gendt, they aren't participating this year.
At around 17h we'll know who succeeds Wout van Aert as Belgian national champion time trialing.

Do you think Van Wilder can challenge Evenepoel and Lampaert on this parcours? I'd say Evenepoel and Lampaert to fight it out for the title and Van Wilder to take bronze but he does have really impressive TT results this year.

I think it will be Evenepoel > Lampaert > Van Wilder
I don't think Ilan will upset the DQT boys, but had there been more hilly sections, i think he would beat Lampaert (easily). On a flat course like this however, and especially considering Lampaert's ITT last week, i think Ilan will take bronze, but i wouldn't be surprised if he takes silver either. I just think it's a bit less likely now that Lampaert seems to be in fine form and the course is not really tailored for Ilan.

I'm picking Rui Costa for the road race and Almeida for the ITT.

Costa must be pissed he wasn't selected for the Olympics, he will demolish everyone.
Nelson Oliveira stopped doing nationals in the last few years, I'm not sure if he's going. If he goes, he might challenge Almeida in the ITT.

Routes for the Danish Championships 17th to 20th June, held In Give, the neighbouring town to Vejle (often used in Tour of Denmark), which means hilly puncheur terrain:

NOTE: Elevation on the profiles is in feet, not metres, and distance is in miles, not kilometers - for some odd reason.

Mens RR
Don't know who is starting, but the hilly puncheur route suits everyone from Vingegaard to Mads P (if he is in top shape).
The "Dannebrog (name of the flag) jersey" is more hotly contested these days than ever before, because there are a lot of winners in the current generation of riders - we may even see rare guest Fuglsang show up, he never won the national RR title, and this route suits him.
So take your pick: Asgreen, Kragh, Valgren, Fuglsang, Mads P, Vingegaard, Honore, Wurtz, Cort, Kron, Kamp, they can all win it, as can some of the best Pro riders. Dark horse for me is Chris Juul, who is riding for an Olympics spot, and climbs better than most realise, but never gets to ride for himself.

Mens TT
It looks like quite a technical route, which means it is better suited for Kragh, but Asgreen is probably the big favorite.
Kragh will be very motivated though, to prove the national coach selected the wrong rider for the Olympics.

Womens RR
This one has Cecilie Uttrup-Ludwig written all over it.

Womens TT
Norsgaard should take it, despite it being up and down a bit, she is on a blinding season.

I actuelly think Norsgaard is as a good a bet as Ludwig, as the hilliest part of the course is midway, the ending is much flatter. Norsgaard can climb pretty well on shorter climbs, see e.g. Healty Ageing Tour and Omloop.

For me in Italy Covi have big chance to. Uae have Formolo, Ulissi and Covi. In Spain i read Ayuso will do to. But not sure.

If Moscon and Bettiol are in shape they are still a level above Covi.
Bettiol dropped out of Occitanie after 2 stages though.

Don't forget Yves is racing on home terrain, I just rode the entire course on my road bike and you can see flags with his name everywhere, furthermore the local schools have decorated some streets and bridges with chalk drawings.

Taking a second look at it, I think you are right.

I probably let my heart rule a bit too much, because if Cecilie Uttrup-Ludwig is ever going to take the Dannebrog jersey, this route is the one to do it on

On the other hand, the TT route may actually suit her better than Norsgaard

Fiona Zimmermann won the junior ITT in Switzerland. I tried to see, if she had any relation to Urs, and I came across a play. in which an Urs Zimmermann wants to send his spoiled daughter Fiona to Africa to discipline her. I don't think it was based on true events, though.
