It must pretty bad if you have to resort to watching NASCAR. Lol.

There's definitely not much going on in this period right after the SB except the drama with Sheuder Sanders & his constant media attention about where he wants to play at. And that definitely gets old after a while. Lol

But there's hope - the kickoff for the UFL season is March 28! I'm going to take Alpe's advice & try to watch some games this year. It's too bad that Denver doesn't have a franchise - I would consider actually going to a game (especially with the affordability of ticket prices).

WTH? Warren Sapp sure has it out for Jaxson Dart. Says if Dart is drafted high in the 1st rd, it'll set that franchise back 30 yrs. I don't ever recall a former star player condemning a potential 1st rd QB pick this bad? There's a couple of analysts that have recently speculated Dart could potentially go high in the 1st rd (a lot of that will depend on his pro day/combine showing). But Sapp is acting like Dart will definitely be drafted high in the 1st rd - nothing could be further from the truth.

He's sold only on Ward & Sanders as being the top QBs this year & everyone else is mediocre. That's fine & dandy but whatever teams that Ward & Sanders go to - they both better have Jayden Daniels/Bo Nix type rookie seasons to fulfill all the hype surrounding them. Lol.

Jags with Lawrence will have two maybe three seasons to make a deep playoff run, get to the AFC championship, at least. Anything less, and it will be time for the Jags to dump Trevor. Jags have a contract out after 2028 anyway. I don't think the Trevor apologists blaming Coen at that point will help.

Packers propose banning tush push. Though rare, a few teams have actually stopped it. Plus it's not really prone to injury, so this would be disappointing to me if they banned it.

The Tush push is just a reworking of the rugby scrum although they have become so skilful with the rugby scrum, I have seen them do it successfully from 5 yards out or more. The difference is that there are more rules with the rugby scrum and the proper formation has to be in place and the ball has to be on the ground, inside the scrum while they are doing it ! Once the ball is out the scrum can break apart. Sometimes the halfback re QB will wait for the ball to appear then run the ball over the line himself. Pretty interesting to watch. Rugby League is another variation on Rugby Union with less kicking and a few major differences re a different amount of players on the field.

No doubt that Lawrence has to up his game as do the rest of the team. Not so long ago the Jags had a great defense then it disappeared. They made the playoffs and then went backwards.

This subtly shows what I have been talking about, and Chris Simms mentioned on PFT. If one is honest, we have to admit Sam Darnold is really the only QB that will be a FA this year that can be called a starter. No team in their right mind would sign: Wilson, Rodgers, Cousins, Winston, Mariota, Fields, Daniel Jones, or Mac Jones for that matter, to be your starter, expecting to have them win games for you or improve your team. As I said before, all these guys are borderline washed, finished, close to retiring. They are in Joe Flacco territory at best, or Jimmy Garappolo at worst. Jones and Fields are still young enough I suppose someone could take a chance with them if desperate, but neither have really showed much of anything if we're being honest. But, someone will sign them, cross their fingers and toes, and hope and pray these guys can somehow, some way, turn back the clock and it will magically work. But I predict it won't.

This is why I posted before if I were a team looking to roll the dice I'd sign Zach Wilson, Hendon Hooker, or Tyson Bagent. Are these guys going to lead your teams to big wins? Probably not. But they are young, have potential, played great in college, and aren't any more of roll of the dice than signing those old fossils who should be holding clipboards, or just need to retire. And they would all come dirt cheap, near the vet minimum.

Shedeur Sanders apparently not going to throw at the Combine. Haven't heard from Ward yet.

Based on Garappolo's only start for the Rams last season I would put him ahead of a few of those players namely Jones and Jones for starters. He was dreadful at Vegas though. Winston hasn't changed at all. He always showed flashes of brilliance but his last few games for the Browns were dreadful. That said he's become a popular back up. Darnold like Goff can be good in the regular season but the high pressure games test him. Then you could same about Dak Prescott as well. Not sold on Zach Wilson, it will be interesting to see who signs him. Mariota ,pass . The Panthers were smart enough to sign Dalton for two more seasons. A decent back up as he has shown. He looked pretty good until his car accident. I wouldn't go near Rodgers..........but I think if the Rams move on from Stafford as he wants a pay rise, there is chance they could take Rodgers for a season or two. Think McVay is smarter than that and Snead. Don't see Vegas pursuing Rodgers, Browns may be interested as well as they seem to be getting ready for a sell off and a rebuild again. but only at the right price. 49ers were interested in a Rodgers and Cousins a few years ago but that ship has sailed. Falcons seem to be keeping Cousins for one more season if the NFL intell is correct.

Good article - thanks for posting the link that bypassed the paywall.

Agree with your list there & probably Fields & D. Jones would be only two that other teams might be interested in giving them a chance to compete for a starting job. They're both young enough & haven't had their careers derailed too much by injuries.

On Hooker, Zach Wilson & Bagent. Hooker definitely deserves a chance to compete for a starting job somewhere. As I mentioned, he was projected as a 1st rounder until he tore his ACL in the last game of his senior season. He's a dual-threat RPO guy with a strong arm, good size & excellent athleticism who played a lot like Daniels in college.

I don't think anyone would be interested in Wilson as a starter right now. He's still in QB rehab - and remember he couldn't even beat out Stidham for the backup job! Lol.

Bagent is a stretch to make it as a starter in this league. Though he was undrafted coming out of a D-II school with his scouting report not very favorable other than a "candidate for bottom of the roster or practice squad," he made a name for himself by surprisingly winning the backup job in 2023 behind Fields. However, he's undersized & though he has a NFL caliber arm it's not elite by any imagination. He does have good agility/mobility. He started 4 games in 2023 for the injured Fields going 2-2 & though he posted decent passing stats, he threw way too many picks than scores (3/6). His mechanics aren't the best & shows inconsistent decision-making when faced with blitzing fronts. Bagent didn't see any starts this year with Williams starting day 1 & not missing any games due to injury. I see Bagent as another Skylar Thompson & Tommy DeVito - decent backups who if put in the lineup due to injury to the starter, will hopefully play well enough to not lose too many games.

Yeah, definitely Sanders is not throwing at the Combine & will only participate in drills at his CU Pro Day (they say he'll be at the Combine for interviews). Ward hasn't decide yet & probably won't until later in the week. Last year both Williams & Daniels didn't participate at the Combine. Before that neither did Young, Burrow or Murry.

No way Wilson goes to the Raiders, Carroll wanted to move on from Wilson. Wouldn’t be surprised if Raiders try getting Kupp and Stafford. Sounds like a Brady move. Then some Lions fans are hoping Stafford replaces Goff in Detroit.
Like I said, it’d be a Brady move if Stafford went to the Raiders.

Just for Nomad (though I think everyone can enjoy this one). Here's Jim Harbaugh telling PFT that Justin Herbert is "one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time."

Comments are equally entertaining.
He's completely delusional if he thinks Herbert is one of the greatest of all time. Lol. And I don't know why he's so jubilant about the Charger's season. Sure he turned it around from the mess Staley left, but they lost in the playoffs to the Texans by 20 with his GOAT QB throwing 4 picks. Lol. I don't think the Chargers are paying Herbert $53M to just make the playoffs with a one & done.

If Stafford does go to the Raiders I also won’t be surprised if Gronk unretires like he’s hinting at and plays for them. Nor if Raiders attempt to get Godwin from the Bucs depending on his contract talks which they have till 3/14.
