Yes I must have been reading something on your post that was not there. I apologize for that.

By the way I don't care if you like the mannings or not. It is not something that I would try to argue about. I tend to agree with you on that subject.

I just read that post to say something it did not. So my apologies.

Nope I don't think I'm an alcoholic. But maybe I am considering my reading and comprehension was so poor when I posted up my reply post.

OK. Accepted. All good. :)

BTW, my answering post was a full load of sarcastic firing back. I for example have nothing against trees & all the other grotesque examples I gave... I only hit out against the Mannings bros because they are praised by the press and the NFL industry around them above the usual sports hero stuff. That makes them mega rich. And if you are getting that absurd amounts of money, I ask for perfection. Both are soo far far away from it... But I have nothing against them personally.

And finally that alcoholic thing was just an example of how such allegations feel when they come out of the blue. OFC I don´t think you are. I don´t know you.

Judging by your avatar, perhaps you need a new pair of glasses?!

Aw, c'mon Alpe, I may be just a tad biased, but the mega 'fairy tale' story of the week must surely be Kirk Cousins!!!
Your vision must be as bad as Glenn's (avatar)!

Kirk Cousins played light's out for Washington. Very wise of them to not trade him away.

Great game between the Eagles and Colts. The Colts had the chance to go at least 10 points up in the final quarter but an interception and Eagles TD has levelled it at 27-27 with 3 minutes to go! Colts also had a 20-6 lead earlier.

Eagles win 30-27 and become the first team in NFL history to go 2-0 having trailed both games by at least 14 points in the 2nd half of each game.

... and for the 2nd week in a row the Eagles came back big. I love them since they hired Kelly (before I liked them). Hope the press people who hammered away on Kelly early last season all eat ... now. :D

And now they have Sproli-Baby (didn´t know that). One of the few RBs I truly like and find special. Since his SD days we described him as a running billard ball bouncing from one cushion to the other. Great to watch, and effective too.

So my simple HFA (+ big away Fav*) "system" works like last season: It leads all or at least in tie vs the well thought picks.

* There was none yet BTW, so I have all home picks until now...

Picking straight up winners for each game. I go with the working formula: All home teams (yes inclusive San Diego :D and Cleveland)...

MIA @ BUF – I’ll take a chance with the Fins.
JAX @ WASH – Good to have a “must win” game so early. Not that I expect anything other than disappointment from this season, but losing this one would be hard to bear.
DAL @ TEN – Nah, Cowgirls suck too bad.
ARI @ NYG - Cards should be too good for this sad Giants team.
NE @ MIN – Peterson-less Vikings to go down at home.
NO @ CLE – Saints to bounce right back.
ATL @ CIN – A toss up, I’ll go home.
DET @ CAR – Lions should be too good.
STL @ TB – Almost looks like a home banker.
SEA @ SD – Away banker of the week.
HOU @ OAK – Texans to win two in a row!
NJJ @ GB – Home banker.
KC @ DEN - Another home banker.
CHI @ SF - And another home banker.
PHI @ IND – Luck to shine at home, and I hate the Iggles.

Totals:
= 17/32 (10/18 vs Alpe; 7/15 vs Esh)

Here are a few picks. Several good games this week.

MIA @ BUF – Buffalo at home, but I like Miami after last week.
DAL @ TEN – Locker looked great last week, and will again this week.
ARI @ NYG - Will be interesting watching if nothing else.
NE @ MIN – Vikings on fire last week, and Pats lost. But...
NO @ CLE – Picking another road team.
ATL @ CIN – I still like the Bengals, but Atlanta is interesting.
DET @ CAR – With Cam back, I'll take the Panthers at home. But Lions looked super last week against inept Giants and Eli.
SEA @ SD – This could be an excellent game, in SD.
NJJ @ GB – Lock of the week (and my Survival pick).
KC @ DEN - Safest Survival pick, if anyone hasn't already picked.
PHI @ IND – Another potentially great game. Indy better overall.

= 6/11
Totals:
= 11/18 (6/11 vs Esh)

Yeah, he is an amazing coach. What an impressive win by the Eagles, the longer the game went on, the more they came alive. Foles started flat, but was in total control by the end.

Agree on Sproles too. Your kind of RB. Mostly a receiver, really.

Chuck Pagano must go.
Granted, Indy is 0-2, but I wouldn't fire him. But one thing is telling, if you look at the way Arizona played this week and last (as in, they took risks, and played to win when ahead, behind, always), and look at the way Indy played not to lose once they had the lead - almost to the end of the game, it proved to be a huge mistake. Granted, they looked out of gas in the 4Q when the Eagles were just getting up to speed, but the plays they called were not going to beat Chip Kelly's Eagles. I bring up Arizona because when Pagano was out with cancer treatment, it was Bruce Arians who took over, and he's now coach in Arizona.

Interesting stat the announcers brought up that I didn't know, in Andrew Luck's last two years in Stanford he lost only 3 games. Two of them were to Chip Kelly's Oregon Ducks.

It's not just yesterday's game. Luck seems to be stagnating since Arinas left, on a high level nevertheless but still, stagnating. No clear gameplan, half of their games they just seem flat.
Then there is Trent Richardson fiasco. Basically, they are not as good as when Arians was interim head coach. Seen that before with Steve Mariucci.

Yes I will. Looking forward your weekly predictions of games like OAK vs SEA. :D

But will you keep track of the survival & elimination? I hope so, since I like this games.

Huh?

AP has been reinstated by the Vikings, and is expected to play this weekend.

Even though Week 2 isn't over, Bleacher Report couldn't resist releasing their power rankings a day early. Here they are. I actually prefer the AP rankings, but we'll have to wait a day to get them. Here's their link.

Since I'm biased against AP being reinstated for this upcoming week I'm not sure my opinion will be what everyone else might think. Anyhow I don't think AP should be playing.

Indy got massively screwed over though. The Luck INT when they had the game was a foul on the receiver. Then the next play Mccoy gets pulled down fair and square and its a 15 yard penalty.

Then in the Chargers game you have the ultimate joke, harvin clearly stepping out of bounds and the booth review doesn't see it:rolleyes:

The only thing i hate in the nfl is when refs win games for teams.

Fortunately the Harvin faux pas did not change the outcome of the game.

The blown calls at Indy... is really disappointing when we have a replay system. For Indy, that is an understatement. Replay crews need a way, like a big red button on their desk, to buzz the refs when they see something that needs extra time to review.

Gotta hand it to Darren Sproles though. Tough little sucker made it fun to watch. Hard for defenders to get pads under him.

So now AP is suspended again. What a farce.

It was pressure from losing the sponsor and the NFL office was on the owners to do something. Nike pulled or supposedly ordered his Jersey be pulled from store's.

Like I said previously. My opinion was biased due to this weekends game. (I will be @ the dome for this home opener)

I'm not sure what should be done. From the pictures it looks to me like he crossed the line. That is my opinion and that part I don't think is based on game day bias.

Elimination Football happens after the 1st week's games. Which means, pick now!

For Survival this week, I pick the NY Jets to lose.

Thanks! That means I have understood it.

Unfortunately Kaepernick blew my sure pick away in the 4th quarter.

So in survival I'm in with 1 strike.
Giants,Bears*

*=strike

Need to wait for injury reports till I pick my next losers and non superbowl contenders.

Agreed. But on the Indy call you can argue that it's a judgement call, referee just missed it. On the other hand, with all the talk that review is centralized with many people examining every scoring play the Harvin's touchdown is a travesty.

I think the NFL is finding it's way in the world of instant twitter feedback. They try to see what the public will tolerate.

The rice reaction felt like an overreaction related to the emotivness of the video. Compared to what Hardy and AP is accused of, Rice seems like an angel.

As for AP. I'm really unsure of what to think, since I haven't gotten enough detail about what was done to the boy.

His defense is that this is how he was taught disipline, and thought this was how it should be done. Having learned a little about the situation in Texas and his hometown, this might be a plausible explanation.

Though that depends on if the wounds suffered by the boy is common in his area.

Personally I wouldn't rule out that the severe discipline he himself suffered, made him more intent on doing worse to his children.

Anyway, it's a good thing the Vikings(Wilfs) reversed course. It seems that they let out a little PR trial balloon with the GMs reactivation. Realizing that it wouldn't work the owners with the help of the league, reversed course again by placing him on this Exempt/Commissioner's Permission List.

This seems like a good solution for Hardy as well until his Jury trial is resolved. Though unlike for the Vikings the Panthers have such depth in the front 4 that they will be able to handle his loss without much of a drop off.

Peterson is now deactivated again, and I think it's a good move by the Vikings. I'm not sure what ultimately will happen, but I think Nike's cease of producing his jerseys (a real turn for Nike, who in the past embraced some of the worst athletes: Armstrong, Pastorius, Marion Jones, the Joe Paterno Child Center, etc. Also Anheiser-Bush's strongly worded statement must have resonated across all of the NFL. I heard they spend something like $2b per year in advertising with the NFL. That's $2,000,000,000.

As to AP himself, the guy isn't going to win any father of the year awards, that's for sure. Apparently he has seven children from five different women, and this wasn't the only case involving abuse on his part. The excuse that he was raised that way in the Texas sticks only goes so far, and definitely ends when the mother has to bring the child to the hospital.

Just to give you a slice of life, before I was born my father was a drill sergeant in the US Army. I was certainly swatted on the rump a few times when way out of line, and there is no doubt he instilled much discipline in me. But it was often things like heavy chores when I did bad things. Like, him waking me up very early on a Saturday to start heavy yard work before the day was long. Scouring the bathroom until it was spotless. Washing and folding all the laundry perfectly. Stuff like that. As staunch as he could be, he never once beat me, or hurt me. He was the greatest dad any kid could ever have. Will Adrien Peterson's children grow up to say the same thing?

Interesting opinion piece on CNN.com regarding Evangelical Christian emphasis on corporal punishment in parenting...they can coach members on the level that avoids prosecution. Much of the rally to support Ray Rice and his wife's activity as "private" has the same religious flavor. Add that to the other PR nightmare for the NFL the farce has more players than a Shakespeare comedy.
Definitely speaks to the many loud voices attempting to influence American politics and society; none of them very polite anymore.

I was frequently threatened with spanking(flat hand on bottom). I think I might have received it once, though it could also be a false memory. His father though was a real disciplinarian, so much that when my father and his older brother were teens they returned the favor to him. He was extremely religious in a very religious society.

Here in Norway corporal punishment has been illegal for ages, and it has been enforced in the home as well since a supreme court ruling back in 2005, when a guy was found guilty of spanking his children.

Corporal punishment doesn't really work either. It creates more problems than it solves.

From what I read about Palestine,tx where AP is from, it sounds like the way my father had it in in the 30s and 40s.

So for me that part of Texas seems a bit backward.
