All we know is next week we shall see if the Super Bowl logo conspiracy is true. All four remaining teams can get a win over the other, it’s no guarantee for the 1 seeds. Is this the first time both divisions had the 1 and 3 seed play in the conference championship?

Bills have to be wondering what they can do to get past the hump. No turnovers and couldn’t get it done. Chiefs defense managed to hold on and get the stops when they needed them to and their offense ran all over Bills defense. The offense looked good, it will be interesting how they do against the Ravens.
I believe the failed fake punt counts as a turnover, but your point stands.

It’s a turnover on downs like the Chiefs fumble out of the end zone but it isn’t an interception or fumble recovered by the defense which was the point. Bills and Allen were turning the ball over like crazy previously.

I love that one! (SF vs. Baltimore this year). The other one I find amusing is that if a team puts a new stadium in their city, within a few years their team will get to a at least championship game (the conspiracy being the NFL is rewarding that city's investment by having more games there. More games = more local $$$).

Allegiant - 2021
SoFi - 2020 (Rams win SB next season!)
MB in Atlanta - 2017 (Falcons SB appearance that very year!)
US Bank in Minnesota - 2016 (Vikings get to NFC championship next season).
Levi's Stadium - 2014 (a few 49er appearances)
Met Life - 2010 (next season Giants get to NFC Championship)

ATT - 2009 (Bzzzzzt! Cowboys are cursed themselves. God doesn't like Jerry Jones, which overrides the conspiracy! :innocent:)

Probably because someone in a place hotter and more of a cultural wasteland than Jerry's stadium bet heavily on the Cowboys.

Okay, I'll confess. I've moved to Tampa. Mayfield is my hero. I'm certain he's going to take Tampa to multiple Super Bowl wins. ;)
And I bet you're even president of his fan club & probably wear a Baker Mayfield headband during your workouts. Lol.

Jokes asides - how can you defend that game losing pick & think this is the guy for TB moving forward? Unless Mayfield intentionally threw the game, he threw the ball right smack to the defender (it wasn't like it was tipped by a receiver which of course wouldn't be his fault).

Choking like that in crunch time isn't going to win him any friends on the team. And you know the offense is pissed wondering the "what ifs." (of course, they're not going to say anything to the media & get in hot water with the coaches. Lol).

Mayfield has been in the league for 7 yrs now. This is his 4th team. Lol None of his season stats & accomplishments means anything if he can't rally his team during crunch time in a playoff game. That's not what a franchise QB, and #1 OA pick, is all about. He let his team down...pure & simple.

Hey, wasn't Brett Favre the gunslinger? Just sayin. ;)
Yes...you're absolutely correct. You know NFL history quite well. In fact, Jeff Pearlman wrote a book about Favre: "Gunslinger: The Remarkable, Improbable, Iconic Life of Brett Favre."

However, Mahomes in college was dubbed the "Texas Gunslinger" because of his incredible, unbelievable talent at passing. I watched a lot of his games & he was one of the greatest playmakers that I've ever seen in college ball. In one game, he broke the NCAA record for single game passing yds with 784 throwing 88 times! In his last season at Tech, he threw for over 5000 yds & 41 TDs in just 12 games!

Is it going to be a Swifty SB ? Is the pantomime behind glass going to go all the way or are those hard nosed Grinchs from Baltimore, Detroit and SF going to spoil the NFL promotional dream ? Does the Kansas kicker get a double doink where the ball bounces back inside the posts or does Kelce score a TD in the last second then point to his heart while looking at the now foggy box, awash with tears and joy ? So many mouth watering scenarios for Mr Goodell and the NFL promotions team to envision...............while Cowboys fans watch Troy Aikman highlights and Bills fans fill out their Powerball numbers and Panthers fans wonder what all the fuss is about and Bill B wonders how many damn interviews do the Falcons need ?

If NFL had their way it’d be Chiefs and Lions for Swift and Eminem.

Rex Ryan thinks Bill can go to Bills if McDermott is fired.

I like Rex, but he's almost as good at making things up as Colin Cowherd.

Only to my aerobersize class.

You might want to look around and guess who else they might be able to get. Or maybe cut Baker and go with...Kyle Trask?

Yep, Baker threw a bad pass late, terrible. But he played fairly well most of the year. No, not MVP great. Yes he was overdrafted for sure, but so were a whole lot of other players. You and I have listed them many times.

Maybe you're secretly Shaq Kahn? Florida rival to my Tampa team?! You feel bad having wasted top draft picks on frequent QB busts? Leftwich, Bortles, Gabbert. And now have your fingers crossed Trevor Lawerence will somehow step up to all the hype around him next year? ;)

I honestly just think your expectations are unrealistic (maybe you're actually David Tepper? Is that you, David?!). Not every team gets to win the Super Bowl, or even wins season after season, let alone get to the playoffs. A lot of people expected Tampa to finish in last and declared Mayfield's career over. Most people thought the Saints would win that division. The "experts " at 33rd Team picked Tampa to go 3-14 for example. The fact that Tampa won a playoff game and that they and Baker overachieved this year is something to be recognized, not ridiculed in my eyes. One bad pass late in a playoff game few people expected them to get to in the first place, or not.

Does this silly season seem even more silly than usual? Is every team moving at least one coordinator, if not all of the coordinators and maybe the HC too?!

Is the dance of personel really beneficial for the teams, let alone the league?

Wasn't Bienieme supposed to be the next HC in DC?

Yes more silly than most and suddenly strange alignment of the planets w football insiders claiming that unicorns are more plentiful than quarterbacks and and defensive backs but suddenly coaches of all kinds are just geography away from greatness!! So what is wrong in Denver? Atlanta? Chicago? Panthers and Jags?
I have seen it a few times in pro baseball were the manager makes an instant difference, but think it takes a little longer in the NFL..
I say all this to temper anything unrealistic about Pete Carroll, Bill B, or Harbaugh showing up pulling a rabbit out of a hat..If this is real maybe the Chargers should hire David Blaine or Burt Wonderstone!!

Unrealistic? C'mon man - #1 OA pick. Lol. If Mayfield walked away from the game today, people are only going to remember that costly pick he threw in the playoffs. No one is really going to care that Tampa finished 9-8 & won the division when it was predicted they would finish 3-14. No one cares about that BS - it's the stupid pick the hotshot threw that blew the game that people would remember most.

If Mayfield is so great - why did Cleveland jettison him after just 4 seasons? His record there was 29-30. He led the team to a 11-5 record in 2020 - finishing just one game out from division champion Pittsburgh. They made the playoffs defeating the Steelers in the WC round before losing a very close one to  KC in the divisional round. Mayfield's season stats were almost identical to his stats this year at Tampa (slightly higher QB rtg in Cleveland: 95.9 vs 94.6 at TB).

If Mayfield is so great - why did Sean McVay jettison him just after just 4 starts last year? McVay, a self-proclaimed QB expert, and a successful coach making $15m a year, must have seen something egregious in Mayfield that led him to believe he's not a franchise QB - running him so fast out of LA that his head was probably spinning. Lol

Nomad I certainly subscribe to many things similar but I think players playing in streaks is a thing and when you see things like Ridder, Heinike ,Mayfield, any QB playing for Las Vegas or New Orleans, Denver showed moments of unsustainable greatness, sort of a sports firecracker, explodes looks beautiful and then nothing. Mayfield in my view is completely binary, he is either good or he sucks not much in between. Any professional athlete that wants to step into the Tom Brady void is a true masochist .
As a young boy my neighbors talked my father into allowing them to bring me to an AC\ DC concert at an outdoor venue called Compton Terrace that was owned by Stevie Nicks parents, all unimportant details..
I was pre teen and was excited days before going, I am pretty sure AC\ DC was good, I know it was loud, what I have burned in my mind was John Cougar opening up for them, not being able to hear any of his music over the screaming and booing, and to this day being amazed that he was not killed or injured by the bottles and debris being thrown at him,.
a guy not far from me took a Coca Cola red paper cup, drank the contents, rolled the top of the cup over itself w ice cubes inside, everyone was doing the same thing, and throwing it at the band members of John Cougar Mellonhead, don't remember the exact hit ratio, but it was high!! And I kept thinking, they had to know that was going to happen.. some of my earliest lessons in masochism.. So I don't know if Baker Mayfield just needs a paycheck or his likes punishment
It's raining and you think of funny things when you are in an Aaron Rogers state of isolation!!! So this is an NFL story mostly not to do with the NFL but just seeing anyone who has strong opinions on Baker Mayfield makes me smile!!

Love was hyped for a full week as many talking heads thought what he did to the Cowboys would transfer across to the 49ers...........oops.........Purdy was being talked about as a possible MVP now he's supposedly a game manager again and many are saying that Goff is the superior QB.........a week is a long time in sports media and we are hearing the worst of it at the moment as the hype machine goes into overdrive. I pretty much ignore most ESPN content these days and YouTube is even worse as you will find it hard to locate a balanced take on the games pre and post.

Reached for comment after the Bills crushing loss this past weekend, Scott Norwood wanted fans to know he's still a Buffalo Bill, and patiently awaiting their first Super Bowl win.

Disclaimer: This is off topic for th NFL thread, but we have discussed Stephan A** Smith several times. As I have stated, its shocking that he has risen to the level he is on. I just don't like having a thesurous ranted at me over and over.

Anyway, for some entertainment between NFL playoff games, use your favorite www source to tap into the spat btween he and Jason Whitlock...funny stuff!
