Luxembourg ITT results:

1) Andy Schleck
2) Fränk Schleck
3) Christian Poos (Continental Team Differdange)
4) Ben Gastauer (AG2R - La Mondiale)

There were only 4 participants and unfortunately Kim Kirchen couldn't defend his title, therefore the results are neither really significant nor important I'd say.

Do you have a link?

Seriously, only 4 participants, why do they even bother?

In 2005 Andy Schleck won by being the only participant.

Well... that explains it! I had been wondering how he could've been ITT champ, even though he's not as bad as Fränk...

Still... those two other guys must've been really bad!

Didier is a climber, Poos is off form. Poos actually won it in previous years.

Well... as far as I can see from the result-list Didier wasn't even in it! Anyway... aren't Schlecks climbers too?
And... to go to another national; I thought "Birdie" was as well...

Well plus Poos has basically only ridden on continental level all his career, even if he were in top form I doubt he could be a real challenge for TdF GC competitors who are close to top form.

Here is the link (in luxembourgish):

They don't even say anything about Gastauer but since he was the only other participant I suppose he came in 4th.

That is funny. I am surprised he actually wears the National jersey when there is no real competition. It isn't like he really won anything.

The results I saw had Didier in it. They've been amended to Gastauer now :)

Not surprisingly, Edvald Boasson Hagen won the Norwegian ITT-championship for the fourth consecutive year.

The lack of competition is truly staggering.

Andy Schleck isn't that bad at ITT. He's simply bad for a serious GT contender. He's probably well above average for a pro rider. Considering the limited depth of the professional field of Luxembourg it's not surprising that he wins the ITT championships.

People want to see their national jerseys on the road even if they're from a small nation.

Yes. Hushovd is the only one with a remote chance of beating him, but he didn't participate. Not many people remember that Hushovd is an ITT U23-World Champion, and he came 7th in the Sydney olympics ITT at the age of 22.

But he chose to be a sprinter and that has apparently made him a worse time trialist.

He has done solid TdF TTs as well hasn't he? Won that prologue at CA etc.

Yes he has been good in short technical prolougues in the recent years, but he haven't shown much in long time trials for a long time.

Greipel, Boonen, Farrar and many other sprinters are good prolouge riders, but I wouldn't call them good time trialists.

Well put! He's not as good as most GT contenders but still better than average, he is usually among the top 50 of any race. Since the other participants were a continental rider and a neo pro it's not surprising.

Well I think it's still valid to hold that competition and have that jersey ... being the best luxembourgish ITT'er isn't worth as much as being the best German or American, but it's still a fact: with KK being out of competition, Andy is the best ITT'er in Luxembourg.

/edit: Here are the official results from Luxembourg:

Does that mean the course is perticularly though?

Its not overly long at 180 K but its on a hilly 7.5 k circuit as far as i know. if Cav gets to end he wins but it sounds too tough.

Well... Saxobank do like their champs! The Danish, Luxembourgish, Swedish and Polish TT champ are all Saxo guys... And I wouldn't be too surprised if the Danish and Luxembourgish RR champs are as well...

Yes that's definitely impressive, and F. Cancellara didn't even participate in Switzerland, otherwise they'd have one more

Well he already has a jersey for TTs. Do you know if he's racing the RR? He didn't get the Rainbow jersey in that dicipline.

Nope no idea unfortunately, I didn't even know that he didn't participate in the TT until I read it on cyclingnews just now
