Well done.

If it wasnt for the Tour in 7 days time I'd go for Thomas but I'm not sure he will want to push himself, thats why i still go with Kennaugh.

Millar cant be discounted because of the amount of class he has and may want to push it a little. He's so up and down but maybe he can do something without battering himself.

Apparently the climbing on the RR course over the mens RR is equivalent to going up Alpe d'Huez twice.

Or, as Kristian House said, there's a lot of descending on this course. ;) :D

You mean you actually have a half decent climb in great britain?

If you want a proper national championships race have it in 45oC degree heat going up a 5.5% climb 18 times. That is a national champioship.

We also have a quality field at our races but I guess the brits can't help that.:D

The weather today is about as hot as you'll get in Britain- lucky with the weather but it's still nit as hit as it her countries. Shame for the road race it's on the same time as England v Germany as won't get any crowd at all

Yes it is a hard one, would you watch top professionals play a crap sport or watch crap professionals compete in a great sport?

Not one hill, 15 times over a 2 mile, 12-20% hill. Pro's are talking about 39x26. I did it on 39x26 yesterday, cadence about 50!

Womens race stopped, big crash, will be restarted soon.

There are some decent climbs. None particularly special, but some decent sized ones. But most of them are quite remote, and because cycling isn't as ingrained as it is elsewhere they are seldom used, or are placed miles from the finishes. The landscape lends itself more to Ardennes-like leg-biters than full-on monster climbs.

Dunkery Beacon = 5.5km @ 8% (max 13%)
Fleak Moss = 4km @ 8.3% (max 13%)
Great Dunn Fell = 9km @ 7.7% (max 15%)
Hard Knott Pass = 2km @ 15%
Holme Moss = 7km @ 5.6% (max 12%)
Kirkstone Pass = 5km @ 7.9% (max 12%, a flat km in there)
Long Mynd = 850m @ 18.8%
Mam Nic = 3km @ 10.6% (max 13%)
Mortimer Road, Strines = 1km @ 13.2%
Rosedale Chimney Bank = 1.5km @ 11.9%
Shaking Moss = 3km @ 10.5%
Snake Pass = 7km @ 5.2%
Winnats Pass = 1.6km @ 11.7%
Wrynose Pass = 3km @ 9.4% (max. 13%)

Dim or TSF would be a better judge, but there are some sharp rolling hills when you get out of Exeter and into Dartmoor.

The Tumble was in last year's UK course.
6 kms at an average of 7.2 %.
Bottom 3kms+ average over 9%.
The peloton fell apart at this point.

Lucky me. NED 1 has gone free to air, so I have the Dutch RR, today.
Watching it now.:)

Agree with that, there are some notable climbs (which the tob always avoids), but on the whole it is the short sharp climbs, or the more constant rolling.

That said, ride around the cornish coast and you can go most of the way around without ever riding of a flat peice of ground, Do a day of dropping down to sea level, immediately climbing back up to 200m with kilometre, dropping back down, climbing back up, 50k of that and you will wish you where just on a nice sensible alpine climb.

The women's UK champs have finished, and Emma Pooley will get to wear the Union Jack jersey (though they'll make her look like a Dutch champ, most likely). Armistead second, Cooke third, Laws fourth.

Cycling Weekly says: "Women's peloton fragmented on the tough Pendle course into small groups. With the heat of the day, the men's race will be a war of attrition."

Rabobus, ha ha!:D
Managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, once again.
Great finish, though. Lars goes Boom, right at the death.
Tricky Niki Terpstra the champion.

The Netherlands, road race elite:

1. Niki Terpstra

He beat the Rabo armada, all on his own! Unbelievable. Very strong.

Oh, and by the way: bye Pieter Weening, go look for another team.

Is that because he had a go at the management?

Combined with the fact that he escaped with Niki Terpstra in the final, and couldn't finish it off. (as was to be expected, Terpstra has the stronger sprint)

I get the feeling that this wasn't the plan.
