Noice! My buddy has one, loves it. He has had some issues with the motor, but he rides hard. Is that triangular thing above the motor a range extender? My Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay C70 (and my much lighter Ritchey Road Logic, behind it) View: https://www.instagram.com/p/DGUTa3qv49lUDwb-WqSwdAAo7kX8C4SHLKVCog0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Almost all of the really strong riders here have an e they ride. A lot of my friends coach the local HS team (my wife and I do as well), and we all ride an e on rides with them, sometimes. I'm closer to 60 than 50, and I definitely see potential to keep me riding regardless of how old I am.I'm toying with the idea of buying a Yeti ASR this year...
I'm also working through some health issues so...
My wife ordered and paid a deposit for an Ibis Ripley in March of '21. Ibis raised their prices ($500 on her bike) because Shimano raised their prices due to supply issues, but the LBS honored the price she ordered at.I've read/ heard similar stories about current bikes, or bikes already on order, having their prices increased.
I've no sympathy for the bike industry; nearly all the troubles are self inflicted; absolutely no need for silly expensive prices for bikes, tech, etc
I'm in the market for a new bike (I've got a list actually) and I've changed my choice of a Trek Procaliber; I'm no longer buying anything from a US manufacturer.....Fairlight make a nice steel Hardtail, that looks interesting.
Went to Trek Super store..want lots of seat post..ride Ultegra now, hope for Dura Ace, @35-45 w tubeless capable but want @40 width, 120-130 stem.. Standard stuff..130 is now considered exotic from Trek, have to special order everything.. They have nothing for a fit..want 167.5..but who cares..they can't rack me for a @$10,000 bicycle.!!!? It's not sub 17 and they act like it's a favor!! I was all against direct to consumer, still think the local bike shop is important. Can't imagine buying a @$8900 dollar Ultegra Trek, and by the time I get saddle, cockpit, with correct handlebar width and required stem length it's @$10,000.. and we have 8.35% sales tax!! Bike prices are ridiculous.. R and A cycles has better deals!!! I don't know how retail will stay alive!!!There isn't a home for this rant, but I'll put it here:
I'm always shopping for a new bike (isn't everyone?) so just after Turkey day I was in the local Specialized concept store (don't get me started on concept stores!), and they had a Specialized Epic EVO Expert for $5999. After the holidays it was on sale for $5499, and stayed that way at least through March. Now its $6500! Why? The kid at the shop said its because of the new tariffs. That bike has been there since November, it wasn't subject to the new tariffs.
The bike industry hasn't recovered from COVID yet, and pricing practices like this will not help it. The industry seems content with killing itself instead of saving itself.
It isn't just Specialize either.
And there's far more tech, R&D in a MX/ Enduro bike than a simple MTB...........My wife ordered and paid a deposit for an Ibis Ripley in March of '21. Ibis raised their prices ($500 on her bike) because Shimano raised their prices due to supply issues, but the LBS honored the price she ordered at.
As some of you may remember, I'm a moto guy too, and I always struggle with the fact that I can get a moto with better brakes, tires, suspension...oh yah, and a motor for a similar price to a mountain bike. For example, my current mountain bike and moto were both just under $5000 . A top end mountain bike is $12,000, while a 450 dirt bike is $10,000. You are getting so much more for you money with a dirt bike.
EDIT: I just did a quick run through a few bike www and everything in the $6000 range went up about 10% since the end of March. The Pivot Trailcat SL wen up 8% just since last week. Its happening...
