The gamification of the forum - trophies etc - really has the potential to annoy. And be gamed.

Actually like it, fast, new, easier on my eyes.

Only have to get used to the avatars next to the thread titles.

On the User Profile > Account Details, Last Name seems to be a numeric field, not alpha. I'd insert a Prisoner quote here but...

Re the Trophies. The Roman numeral ones. If - as seems - they are based on the number of posts a user's made, surely showing I (500 posts) is redundant if the user also has II (1,000 posts)?

Also, there appears to be no IV - is that to stop infringing the rule restricting doping talk to the Clinic?

Yes, and sincere apologies to anyone who lost their content during the migration. I spent hours trying to turn the old board into read only mode. Unfortunately the old forum software was pretty much non-responsive in the back end. Very few if any changes would "stick". While the loss is unfortunate, the good news is that this type of issue will never occur in the future. Well, let's not say never, but it is highly, extremely, very unlikely ;)

No worries, it's a small sacrifice imo.

The second set of Trophies , to the right of the Roman numerals, is similarly redundant. If you have the first logically you have all the others to its right and they're just wasting space (and confusing folk).

In effect there seems to be just two trophies, both linked to your number of posts.

Oh, there's a third set of Trophies, furthest left, for the number of likes. I'll guess this will have the same level of redundancy. Some people will have rows and rows of Trophies longer than their actual post.

Also, the top/bottom buttoms on the right are blocked by the "Privacy settings" that is always floating there.

After playing with the new setup for a while I am getting the hang of it. As others have stated I would perfer if we could be instantly taken to the newest comment like the previous one. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't for me. I also liked where you could type in what page you could go too instead of this new one with presets. Otherwise it is a lot easier on my phone to pick the topics I want to read (fat fingering the wrong thing was prevalent before), looks cleaner, and feels extremely good.

Hey, hiccups, bugs, quirks, and us just getting used to the forum aside, just want to say thanks for the upgrade! Lots of great additions in the new software which I think will make the community and discussions better! I think the software does a nice job of incentivizing the right kind of behavior.

Thanks for all the hard work as we onboard the new system!

The fact how excited I am about a new layout of a forum probably tells you that I spend way to much time on this site. Anyway, haven't looked at all options yet but everything I've seen so far I like.

On another note, now that we can react to posts I really have to start posting something in the race design thread again to go like farming.

Does anyone know why some posters have them and some don't ? (also just checking to see if I have them)
Yeah, we think you need to post in the new forum for them to activate. I had zero, posted, then a few minutes later they appeared.

Like the little extra's such as putting cover photos on threads and the 'reactions' button. Working well so far.

For now, I can only say:
a) Thankfully, after more than 1 year, I was able to reset my password and log in (tried several times before to no avail, also tried to create new account and it didn't work and also tried to contact the administration, but didn't work out either).
b) I like the new layout. Kudos!

I've been having a bit more of a play around, and I've got to be honest: I don't really like it much. A lot of the features just appear to be rearrangements of functionalities we already had, and the layout not being conducive to long posts or reading anything in-depth is not a positive development imo. Quote trees I can take or leave - it definitely cuts down on repetition, but at the same time once we get to sizable quote trees it just cuts off before you can actually see what's being responded to. A lot of the new added features are things I really can't see myself using very much, and certainly I feel that having more emojis is not a worthwhile trade for readability. Is there a way to stop displaying the eleven billion trophy icons, too, because they're just annoying really. Most of them are to do with longevity and number of posts anyway, you can see my join date and post count already which renders most of them pointless.

With all the benefits of the new forums tending toward the direction of more added emojis and post reactions it feels like a directional shift away from discourse and towards two-sentence soundbite-type posting. I find the fact that a discussion forum is a forum for actual discussion to be one of its benefits, and if I wanted reddit type bite-size posting, I'd post on reddit (but I don't, and so I don't). Time will tell, and I know a lot of people weren't keen on the last forum upgrades but quickly got used to them, but I'm very sceptical. I'm aware that I'm something of a curmudgeon, and that others will not be as concerned as me about the loss of readability of long posts because they don't make so many as I do, but I have to say I'm underwhelmed.
