Thankfully I found out how to get rid of that silly sidebar with the "Trending" stuff etc.

Navigation seems clunky - I used the little drop-down that used to be at the bottom of the page that meant you could jump to other 'sections'/forums... Is there something like that here - I can't find anything that works the same way...

Also, the top/bottom buttoms on the right are blocked by the "Privacy settings" that is always floating there.

I'll add that the bottom one doesn't work for me.

Overall I gotta say I like the new interface. Much better readability from a smartphone, I'll have to test it from a pc.

At first sight (on a PC), it generally looks like a nice upgrade.

Some remarks:
  • You should really be able to go straight to the last post of a thread with one click like on the old forum.
  • Showing the avatar from the member who created the thread on the "main page" serves no purpose at all and is kind of annoying actually.
  • Trophies? Really? Also showing them in every post takes up way too much space.

Some notes about visuals.

Displaying all the trophies is too much, it would suffice to display only the highest rank in a given category.

The area used to display avatars is smaller (it seems that area which used to display avatars now displays both the avatar and the name). On the screen I use the avatars became too small.

I do not like that the number of posts in a thread are not exact anymore (e.g. 5432 became 5k).

The button which turns off and on sidebars display three vertical dots and it is just right to reply button in the upper right corner of the page.
May this info could be included into the Guide to the XenForo Features on Cyclingnews? Also, it would be nice to have this button accesible at all times (maybe in the header).

Hey how come I don't have any points or trophies

Now you do!

Agree about the displaying of trophies.
Also… this is a cycling page; why not have a bit of fun, and use cycling related terms? So you'd start out as a stagiare, then become a neo-pro, then a pro, and finally a veteran.

Utter disaster. This nightmare obviously was designed for mobile phones. On a PC the forum is tiny and unusable. It's called crapification.

P.S. The Race Design Thread is officially dead now. With that tiny space available it is useless to post maps, profiles or longer text.

Don't know if its just my PC, but first impressions are that this new format is awful...i've no idea about the new features, they may be great, its just that my screen is so overwhelmed with banners and pop ups that take me to new links i didn't want to go to every 2 seconds that i'm finding the forum itself almost unuseable

Edit: Sorry, forget all that, now i've actually logged in to post that's all gone away!:)

those people complaining about the size of the forum on pc, what resolution are you using? On my pc (1080p) looks just like the past version...

Yeah, all good on PC and mobile browsing is considerably better than before. Hide the trophies and fix the 'bottom' button and I'm happy with this

Great work everyone who was working on this! The forum runs smooth and the timeouts are gone. No ads for registered users, thank you :)

I don't know all the tricks of the new forum, but I'll get the hang of it soon.

1 thing though: in the list of threads of a forum, how can I see there is a new unread post in a thread?

Fantastic. I tried to write on this forum since a few months but never got an confirmation e-mail and so wasn't able. With the new forum this problem seems fixed.

The thread title should be a different colour. On the dark theme read threads are white and threads with new posts are purple.
Thanks. Switching to dark mode, since it's hard to see the difference between the purple and black colours on light version.

Dark mode will save battery and is easier on your eyes too, win win!
Sometimes I sit in my room where my laptop is the only light. Dark mode is really dark then.

In dark mode, on the account settings page, the active menu item is almost impossible to read: dark purple on a shade of black.

For those complaining about the sidebar on your computers - at the top of page on the right side - next to the Reply button you'll see 3 dots, click on that and it toggles the sidebar so you can easily get your view back to the regular view that we're used to from the old forum.

I used to like jumping to the last read post from the little icon in the list of posts.
Can't find it now.
Any easy work arounds?
