We dropped Comcast two days ago.
They asked 'why' and we told them they canned our two fave channels...Universal and TCM...then the customer service agent cheerfully said 'Oh, if you pay us an additional $20 you can have them back!"

OMG! They got rid of TCM!! I have been too busy to notice. TCM was one of the few decent channels. Almost everything else is the same channel with a different name.

yup, that pushed me over the edge. Really all I ever glance at is TCM and occasionally HGTV, but once race season is on not even that. but still is sacrilege to take my old movies....

they're sneaky

Last Year Direct TV dropped Versus for a few weeks but Universial came on instead for the vuelta. NBCSport will be showing all the major races as usual but I see they have already shorted TDU to 30minute package.

It's mostly delayed on US networks except for LeTour and California because of the Euro/US time difference. I mean im on the east coast don't know how people rise at 430am to watch LeTour. Im waiting on their treatment of the Classics though.... But their commercials do say they are showing them. I hope at least the 2 or 3 hour slot that Versus gave.

I tuned in today to watch the TDU - as you said 30-minutes - what a disapointment - I predict short shrift for all the planned cycling programs with cycling eventually being replaced by major US sports (baseball, football, etc). It all about advertising revenue.

Back when they were Versus last year, they only showed 30 minute recaps. The main difference this year is that they forced the 30 minute recaps to after midnight eastern time.

As a current Comcast subscriber, if they want me to pay $20 a month just to see Universal Sports, I will save the money and watch the Giro and Vuelta online. Even if I have to pay Universal $20 or $30 for each of those races, I will be saving money.

Well NBC Sports advertised 19 Epic races to be shown through out the season, today during TDU. You can break that down how you want. Rhonde and Paris-Roubaix etc must get 2 hour coverage and I suspect leTour will be Live and re-aired during the evening. The rest of the races is anyones guess how long the screening will be.

It's a bit confusing but technically 'Universal' is not even a contender for showing the cycling...it will now all be on NBC , so there is no reason to pay for UniS...
correct me if I'm mistaken but I think this is how it shakes out. Then you either buy the sports package from NBC/Versus....

Maybe availability of TCM on Comcast depends on your location. It is still available on Comcast in the Denver area.

See other thread on forum about Universal ...an employee of US is responding...

Still not sure what they are going to show....
and I'm starting not to trust any channel.

I learn along time ago that cycling will get the flick on US networks easily. Fingers crossed.;)

Thnx for posting the link BH.
I just looked at this, and although the races are there they do not say how much they are showing??? Like, is it 30min or 1 hour highlights?

and the delay ...:-/

I don't think this will be my go-to channel.:(

Did you see Tour of Flanders and other races on at 12.30am I hope thats Pacific time !!

Universal Sports Network vs. NBC Sports Network - Confused?

Universal Sports Fans!
There has been some confusion since the start of 2012 between Universal Sports Network and the new NBC Sports Network. To clarify to our followers out there, these are still 2 separate networks. NBC Sports Network recently renamed itself from Versus, while Universal Sports still remains the same network that brings you world-class sports events like:

-Alpine Skiing World Cup
-Olympic Soccer Qualifiers
-Rugby 7s & World Cup
-Cycling World Championships & Grand Tours
-Ironman Triathlon
-Figure Skating Championships
-Gymnastics Championships
-Swimming Grand Prix
-and many, many more!

If you don't have Universal Sports Network, then demand it from your TV -provider. Call 1-800-55-GET-US & tell your friends to do it too.

Strange. The problem is they have not committed to exactly what they will carry. They just name it the 'spring cycling package' and are still vague with what agreements they have worked out.
They sure are marketing like crazy but I'll put my money down when there is something concrete!
Thanx for posting this Gvlle.

US on Direct TV

I just checked and US is only available through Direct TV's Sports Package, which is an extra $13/month. I think I will just find the races online.
