Please remove spoilers
I've come to the conclusion that the only way to appeal to the 'wise' owners and runners of this site and their determination to spoil the enjoyment of the coverage of our sport, is to appeal to the advertisers.
All this frustration cannot be going un-noticed, surely they can't find the site any better.
1. drop each one an email asking them to stop advertising on a website that is spoiling our sport.
2. Never click an advert on this site - SO Visit each adverter by googling them.
P.S. Can some one point me to all the archived site content, with the results of past races, photos and race reports.

There was a list. I used it, but I think the post was removed (censored). I am sure off the forum there is plenty of information to be had, you just have to work out people email address etc.
The posts today are good today, I feel we are loosing steam, I guess 35 - 40,000 must be the core readership? That's good to know. I haven't counted, but I think iit is about 900 to 5 (five people like the new site????)

I compiled a list and posted it, but it was deleted by the editors so I don't want to put it up again. However, it only took me a short time to get the information. All of the advertisers have websites and in most cases there is a "Contact Us" or "About Us" link somewhere on the page. Just Google the company or their product to get to their homepage.
I should also reiterate that I was not specifically trying to bash Cyclingnews. I think the advertisers should hear from us whether we like or dislike the redesign.

It takes a few minutes to identify sponsors and look up the contact info - there is no point in everyone doing that. So please take a few minutes and add some more to this list, and copy/paste the entire list into a reply to this message.
When writing to the sponsor, it probably wouldn't hurt to mention that you understand the need to fix the back end here so that information is retained in a database rather than millions of html files, but the issues we have are with the new front end (spoilers, usability, stage 1 = stage 9, etc.)

Sorry, cyclingnews, but your sponsors really need to understand how disappointed your regular visitors are, and how it will affect the bottom line for everyone.

I used your list, thank you before it was deleted. I also was very kind to cyclingnews, this was a friend after all. I do think advertisers do need to read this forum. They can make up their own minds. My problems may not be other peoples problems. I only came on a forum because I was so dissapointed, I did not set out to trash cyclingnews. I think various staffers did that for themselves and now have been told not to return email, with is the best really as they did not have any trainning in how to respond to so many negative posting. I am nearly washed up with this and will soon stop posting. What will be will be. I know I gave it my best shot, and it was to save a friend of at least 10 years. I don't think I will ever return to cyclingnews, I will find somewhere else, it might not be the same....it could be better, but I feel we have seen the last of simple websites that set out to help users not hinder the navigation. Final shot. If the stupid flash stuff at the top go. Spoilers go. two columns come back and the content returns to pre 15th June and is easy to find...then I will take a look. Spoilers was not a problem to me...but now it is, because it was forced on me...and I do not like it.

I totally agree, and I think your posts have been some of the best, not abusive or petty in any way. In fact there have been quite a few comments from very intelligent and thoughtful people who are not angry or spiteful but instead are genuinely concerned. These features will return once we have the bugs preventing them from being posted ironed out.
There's currently no archiving system on the tech default page at all. It was one of the post-launch tasks, which is still on the agenda but pushed down the line a little as we've prioritised other things mentioned in the reader feedback we've received. But yes, there will be more of a system behind it.
As for your PS, since I handle CN's tech content you've caught the right person - will ensure this is done.

The new site is really terrible. I usually viewed Cycling news on my iphone, but now it is so slow and congested. My finger usually hits the wrong story and I have to wait for it to load so I can bail out and try agin. You need to make the headlines bigger and easier to select, along with fixing all the other stuff people are complaining about.

I do MTB, road, track and TT, and I like to follow all of them. In the new site its much easier to find the content.

I am new to the forum. I have read cyclingnews almost every day for as long as I can remeber. The old website had achieved something very rare - extremely simple navigation and exceptional content. I could log onto the site and leave with a good idea about what was going on. Everything was easy to find and was always well written.
The new site has taken my favourite thing on the internet and destroyed it. I am close to just not bothering anymore. There is way too much clutter and I have no idea what is new. I find I leave the site with little memory of what I was reading as I have filtered out everything as it is so busy. I sincerely hope you listen to your readers and move back towards the old format.
The new forum is interesting, though, and currently is the only reason I am coming back to the site.

Personally I think the new design is fine. Sure it took a bit of getting used to, i.e. how to find what you want quickly, ease of navigation etc., but that happens (with me anyway) with any site that has been redesigned. Now after a week or so of daily surfing of the site I think that it is a definite improvement (not that the previous design was bad). Well done.

You seem hate your users with passion. You wanna use that passion for good instead, you could make a fortune.
BTW Ad Block Plus + Flashblock make the experience of coming onto the site ever so slightly less zingy and unpleasant to look at.

The bigger point is that plain html works great with all browsers. And, no, needing a change on the back end is not an excuse to have to have flash and anything other than basic html on the front end.
