Was expecting bigger gaps before the race started, not knowing the course, so given the nature of the course and the snow conditions, expecting great things from the women’s race was futile.
Too bad about German skis. Carl and Hennig looked good early, and were forcing the pace.
Niskanen and Karlsson could have done more with this stage, and they would have if conditions allowed it. Niskanen will I am sure try to go hard the whole way in Italy, because the final climb isn’t suited for her, even though she’s had top 10’s there in the past. Karlsson is in a better position, but she too, will need to go hard and try to gain back as much as she can. If she’s less than 30 seconds behind before the final stage, she has a chance. Weng is in a very similar position. I think she and Slind could team up for the classic race. The though Weng is known as a notorious wheelsucker.
