The full story about this is in "From Lance to Landis". After repeatedly stating that he did not have, need or require the a note for anything(which a large portion of the peloton have), Lance when told he had tested positive, conferred with Johan, their doctors, lawyers ect. and came up with the saddle sore cream and the note correctly backdated. The UCI let the matter go at that. No special treatment?

It´s amazing this is coming out now.

Its interesting you note that. I use cortisone for this exact reason. Saddle sores that is. Sometimes iodine surgical scrub just doesnt cut the mustard. Ive actually gone through the process of being taught how exactly to test for this. You would need a lot more cortisone than is present in a topical oinment to pop a positive.

So yes, it must have been obvious he was doing something all along. Saucepan up your backside and all?

I assume Lance has had a blind eye turned upon him for such a time due to being such a big cash cow for the sport or due to some arrangement with the UCI. But why is it that now things seem to be coming undone for him? Journo's have stuck up for Lance all of this time. Walsh and Kimmage have been pilloried for their opinions all this time and the good old lines of "lance has never tested positive" have been used again and again.

What is it about Landis's attack that seems to have drawn blood for once? Did the uniballer sleep with the wife of someone really important?

from CW:

did you know that Pat McQuaid's son, Andrew, runs a company called Azzurri Sports Management, which acts as an agent for several riders, notably Nicolas Roche, Daniel Martin and Philip Deignan. While there is absolutely no suggestion that anything improper has ever taken place, the UCI must surely acknowledge that a conflict of interest exists. Andrew McQuaid was Tweeting from the Radioshack team car during the Tour of California.

That is actually hilarious...these folks don't even attempt to hide this stuff...add that to Fat's brother running tour of Eire and shortening race after giving LA 2 million or whatever it was...and Fat taking that cool half million from LA...it is a gigantic wonder the guy still has a job...hopefully he won't for much long...

I do think it's just a sign of the overall tide turning when it comes to doping in sports in general. Remember this kind of serious drug enhancement has only been around since the early 90's when synthetic EPO, HGH, and T was developed. Prior to that although there was certainly amphetamine abuse clean athletes could certainly compete and win and pretty much all sports were far less of a freak show.

The American Baseball scandal laid the groundwork for these, a lot of Americans from all walks of life were ****ed that McGuire, Bonds, and Sosa were 'roiding up and breaking the records of old "black and white" era legends like DiMaggio, Aaaron, Maris, and Ruth.

Then the BALCO scandal blew up as well and the degree of chemical enhancement began to turn a lot of stomachs.

On top of this people all realize what big business sports are now, how much money is involved, and how much attention is paid. They aren't interesed in seeing cheating thrive and be rewarded in such an environment anymore.

Someone posted a long thing above about Tyler...I won't put it here as it will take up too much room...but he is right and I have been saying the same since this thing broke....Hamilton needs to come forward...it is sorta surprising that he has not, because the book deal he would get would be far far more than kamikazee Floyd...and I may be a fool, but I think Tyler could do well with abit of redemption via his depression problems...come on Tyler...think this thru...

Read he's tweets. He's not interested. He's business is actually doing very well. Lot of corporate clients.

Two words, Federal Investigation.

The very real threat of prison is a very good truth serum.

That in combination with the NYT and SI getting their competitive juices flowing will result in the downfall of Armstrong.

Floyd still has some outstanding legal issues with French officials. I don't doubt that he will cooperate with them and that the French will jointly investigate with Novitsky/Feds.

PR wise, it will be much better for everyone except lance if he meets his end in the US.

I see a year in prison and stripping of the 7 TdF titles with no winner for those years.

When he tries to plead the 5th after he answers a subpoena, those clients might dry up.

Just noticed on his twitter that he says he's Olympic Gold Medalist. Part of a plea deal for him may be to surrender his Gold Medal like Marion Jones.

He'll talk.

wishful thinking then...or personal opinion it might do him well anyhow...but you are right Hog..."training " corporate ***** guys for big bucks fits right in with the old philosophy he has probably gone along with his whole life...and got him to where he is in the first place...also he is probably scared if he does admit everything he just might lose that gold medal noone believes in anyhow...too bad for Tyler in the end I guess..

Tyler’s love for Lance was so much more than Floyd. Landis loved Lance but he also wanted to beat him whereas Tyler’s love was deep and true and Tyler wanted to be Lance. Even thou Tyler has hit the bottom he still loves Lance and would never sell him to the Feds. In fact Hamilton would go to prison for Lance and tell the world: “It was me! I gave the drugs to Floyd, Lance was always clean”. That’s how much Ty loves Lance. A love as strong as death. True love. Tugboat is not going to talk.

Gentlemen-everyone seems to be getting very excited, but until those five magic words come together sometime soon, none of these conspiracy theories have the remotest chance of being realized. The five magic words are...

Tyler-Hamilton-Cooperates-With-Feds.

To me, he is the key figure here because he's already disgraced (more than once) doesn't owe his current job to anyone involved so there is no need to protect anyone, and his life couldn't get any worse. He could tell us all about that mafia that exists in cycling, and he was there during Armstrong's first couple of wins, so we can get the story from the beginning. The lineage can then be past on to whatever Floyd Landis has to say.

And if you bring in Jonathan Vaughters, well then it's over for Lance. "NO MORE ULTRA LIFE FOR YOU!!!"

This type of inbreeding is what's killing cycling. The only way to make it stop is to show that they are incompetent at policing themselves.

Where's Serpico when you need him?

Yeah we need Serpico "Serpico did all one man could do ... and more"

Maybe they can form a cyclocross team in ye ole graybar. I'll bet a 400 pound ms13 member with a shank and a crew chasin' my a$s could get me to the top of Ventoux at motorpace speed.

If Tyler talks, I don't see him giving up names easily. But I can see him giving a general confession/apology. I do think he would talk though in order to save his Olympic gold. We'll see. I agree though that if others start talking, and he faces an investigation, his clients will all dry up, and he'll end up in the same mud as the others who remain silent.

Good posts BikeCentric, comparing this to BALCO. I think it has awakened the mainstream some, opened their eyes to just how bad this is. And just like finding out Bonds, McGuire, ARod, etc. were all doped up it has people upset and turned stomachs, as you say.
