Break should be allowed to ride if they want to continue, the others stopping fair enough, just neutralise the times.

Lol @ the comments on rider power on GCN given that a peloton loaded up on EPO has refused to race in protest at doping controls in the past.

Understandable call today though. Although the break seems to disagree :D

The break is understandably pissed off.

But the cancellation was also pretty understandable, even tho it's clearing up now. They probably could've raced.

Weather looks pretty good where the break has stopped, but if the descent is dangerous, it's obviously the right call to neutralise the stage.

Depends. Either the snow shower was south of the upper parts of climb and thereby also descent, or the snow had simply moved away from there in which case the descent could very well have been dangerous. If I see these conditions 200-300 metres lower than the summit though, I would judge it as unrideable as well unless I'm told the descent is snow-free. Therefore I wish they'd made clear(er) on race radio which of the two it was, the stage could perhaps have completed in case of the former.

I suspect that the organisers were confident that once they reached the peak of the climb then the weather was OK which seemed to be the case, but the riders jumped the gun by stopping riding.

Had a look at the weather radar and it definitely looks as though the snow passed over the summit and descent too. Rightfully cancelled if so.

Why do we even have an extreme weather protocol if they can just do whatever they want
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can see in the UCI regulations the extreme weather protocol only applies if extreme weather is forecasted, rather than it happening unexpectedly?
