I nominate this for stage of the year even before it is run. Would have been a better stage without Contador and with Ricco but will probably be great nonetheless.

Agreed:D

But it will probably cause conservative riding on stage 15 :(

Since it is possible to predict the winner with 90% certainty more than a month ahead of time, I think it is not a great stage.

Apologies if this has cropped up before and I've missed it, but are there actually any decent cycling betting sites out there? The overround on Betfair for MSR never dipped below 200% and other offerings weren't much better. I realise that this isn't premier league football but half the money??????

speaking of dirt roads... anyone knows how Contador can handle them? I can't remember him racing on sterrato (if he ever did)

true. didn't remember it.
However, compared to the condition of Finestre, Plan de corones looks like an highroad... I don't really know about the state of the plateau on the top of Crostis as well.

Yea the sterrato part is impossible to finish on seeing its only 3 meter 30 wide, but it would be epicness only the giro directors could deliver! :D

Sestriere after Finestre is like Aprica after Mortirolo. It adds to the show. It would be a shame to finish on Finestre.

Exactly, the descent and then stretching the gaps on Sestriere make it a better stage.

Yes. Mortirolo last year was in my opinion one of the great Grand Tour stages of all time.

ANd its not like the Giro is short on mtfs. Theres loads of them, nice to have some descents in there too.

Last time around Savoldelli was further behind over Finestre than at the finish.

He had company for the final climb and did a daredevil descent, but still...
