He can't. The risk is too great. He has to deal with each lawsuit individually. Confessing kills his negotiation position.

At least his lawyers must have told him how it will end back in 2010. So he might have saved his millions already (speak; giving it to his wife and hidding some in the caribic). He´ll confess and do a Vick (speak; file for bankrupcy).

I dunno, he's painted into a corner; I don't think he can go anywhere, or do anything, without confessing first. At least then he can rebuild his image in some fashion. And this is a guy who loves to be in the spotlight more than anything. As much as it would astound me to see him contrite, I think some fake contrition coming up.
But wouldn't a confession to doping also be a confession to committing perjury? If that's true, it ups the ante quite a bit. Maybe he simply can't confess because of the complicated legal implications of basically admitting that he lied in various court testimony/depositions.

I am starting to think a confession may be coming, but he perjured himself in the SCA case. He is absolutely screwed no matter what. He was/is a vindictive, mean bully and a proven lier. It appears his time to pay has come.

There is likely enough testimony available to cause him to settle a few sponsor lawsuits, if there are contracts with "no cheating" clauses. The SCA case depends on them; whether they want money back. But others have stated the obvious; he can't admit it or his ability to negotiate in settlements will be compromised.

Oprah's retired and Pierce Morgan would not be a simpathetic ear.
Letterman has already joked: "the air in New York is really polluted with chemicals...almost as much as Lance Armstrong's blood".

That pretty much signals the end for me re: LA. Next up: who paid Heinz? The IOC is now on damage control and they will want a sacrifice from UCI...

Enjoy saying all of this was foreseeable but only a hoped for possibility in the way of sportwide cleansing.

Plea bargain.

Lance has enough money to pay everyone off and negotiate for reduced sentences (probation) so that he can continue with his work in Cancer Awareness.

I don't think Lance is following Fabiani's advice right now. Why else would he have Tim Herman fronting for him instead of a Fabiani Guy?

Maybe Armstrong is short on cash. With revenue from Nike cut off and perhaps more sponsors to follow, his cash flow could go into the red. After that he will become desperate.

The new Armstrong jet.

By the looks of things, the last few days have been a disaster for Team Lance, and Lance may very well have gone awol or rogue to the dismay of his advisers. He can not be rational, and perhaps Fabiani has come to grips that he should distance himself from the liar and the lies he was induced to spin on his behalf.
Herman is also waist deep in it as he might not have know the extent of lies he was told while running around suing everyone on Lance's behalf. Not 100% sure about this but he may have an obligation to the court to come forward and 'decant' that some or all of the law suits had no truthful basis.
Meanwhile Pat and Hein hopefully just rubber stamp the report, albeit with the requisite feigned jurisdiction dispute...and then drop the Kimmage thing.

Isn't he already open to perjury charges whether or not he confesses? The facts have been established and, in a few weeks, unless UCI appeals, accepted by the competent authorities.

Probably, but a confession would make it a no-brain, signed, sealed, and delivered ticket to jail.
Can Lance visualize a world where he's not allowed to Tweet? So sad...

Has anyone here seen the ESPN documentary "9.79" about the Seoul '88 100m final?

I imagine Armstrong in 10 years just like Ben Johnson in that film now - not a villain, but a pitiful, pathetic creature, completely living in the past with memories of his earlier glory days. Unremorseful, unapologetic, but really mostly forgotten by the public.

I'm told there is a "riders collective" being formed.

They plan to make a statement on behalf on the peloton.

My understanding is they will create their own set of principles for the Pro Peloton. One being the non-use or certain doctors/trainers.

Watch this space. They also plan to present a set of guideline to the UCI to put into the charter.

Yep. LA will be discussed forever in the way Ben Johnson is. They both share the top spot in the Hall of Shame...

Statutes of limitation are his perjury salvation. But any fraud Lance did did abroad, may yet cause consternation. And lies tolled in that Texas case may yet rise up and smack his face.
