The arrogant and mean spirited SOB got what he deserved!

It was all up to him the way he played his life out....he could have been a gracious and classy person. No one forced him to be such a d*ck....

Lance Armstrong, Usain Bolt,"Hussein Obama II" accused and stripped: first of 6 acts June 29 2012, next 5 to follow in 2012
published June 29, 2012 references articles with the script of Lance to be falsely accused as early as 2004 (verifiable at webarchive.org)

I'm on my bike five hours a day, what are you on?

This is a good step. Now, it is time for UCI to examine itself. Doping controls were laughable during Lance Armstrong's reign of fraud--riders who weren't sanctioned for not being where they were supposed to be when testers showed up; riders, like Armstrong, who dropped out of races to escape being tested when they knew they'd show up positive; testers who showed up in cars emblazoned with logos whilst wearing lanyards identifying themselves as drug testers even as look-outs for the teams watched parking lots and telephoned warnings that gave riders plenty of time to inject saline or other masking agents. Bottom line, the USADA did what WADA and UCI should have been able to do on their own, long before this, and it is time for these other bodies to address shortfalls in the testing processes that USADA found and, thankfully, made public. If nothing else, riders who test positive should be banned for life, period. Two-year suspensions have proven to be no deterrent.

Finally, Lance Armstrong is the luckiest man on earth. He is alive when, by all reason, he should not be. That he has not realized what a gift he was given when so many other worthy people died of cancer is, perhaps, the greatest tragedy here. By behaving the way that he has, he has squandered his gift and become known as the world's most selfish athlete.

Lance's future:

"Heartfelt" confession featuring an epic sympathy play where he describes the internal torture of having to lie all these years so as not to dash the hope of all of the cancer victims who believed in him.

Full restitution to any damaged parties.

Maybe a conviction, but no jail time.

Still making millions. Still a celebrity. Still a new thread about him in the clinic every day.

Closure

It's finally official, thank heavens. I'm generally not a big sports fan, but somehow found myself consumed by recent affairs in professional cycling. I suppose it comes from 2 things: I like cycling myself & lance armstrong conversations seemed to get very personal and heated. lance armstrong conversations are unavoidable for cycling fans. I'm thankful the truth has come out. I would love to continue to be a fan but all but a small minority of those intimately involved in the sport are unwilling to admit what a farce they've created. Frankly, under these circumstances it isn't worth my time.

Good luck cycling, hopefully things can get straightened out and a legitimate sport can be created. Hopefully all those conflicts of interest can be eliminated. I'll check in periodically to see if things have gotten better and maybe I'll come back one day. Thank you posters who have provided facts and good discussions. It's great to be privy to passionate fans, but not as great as being privy to integrity and pure competition. This is what's lacking and without integrity all of this is pointless.

See you on the roads & trails. Peace.

Armstrong was a hero for returning from cancer and winning those Tours!
Except, now he didn't! Yes, he returned from cancer, and he did ride, I guess nobody can take that away from him. He just didn't win, he never won.
Now, now he's just a nobody.
On the other hand; those guys he tried to turn into nobodies, Bassons, Simeoni, probably other guys as well, now they are the heroes. They've always been heroes, just took too long for the world to see it!
He, Armstrong, he could've been that person, he could've been that hero! He could've been the person who spoke tirelessly against the whole organized doping issue.
The way I see it doping is the cancer of cycling, and if Armstrong hates cancer, and loves cycling as much as he claims, shouldn't he have been doing everything in his power to stop the doping? Even if it meant risking his career...
Instead he just helped creating the biggest lose-lose situation ever...

I've never understood the hero because he returned from cancer thing anyway. Cancer is a horrible disease and I'm sure most people have friends or family that are or were affected by it, so everyone will know that one can regain full strength again when he or she is cured (and I hope more people will be cured, in future). I am happy Armstrong got cured from cancer, but I can't see how it makes him a hero. In my view, this argument is used as a last desperate attempt to fix and defend past beliefs. After all, it is just about turning pedals again, he didn't safe Jews or anything...

Couldn't agree more!

The last paragraph makes me even more infuriated with the whole Livestrong thing- still so many believing he is a hero because they don't know the truth about Livestrong.

He can use it to rebuild his reputation in front of non cycling people - once again being all about him and not about his cause.

Yes, but he did beat them all.

Lance has a title that will never, ever be rivalled.

Lance is the most famous non-winner of the Tour ever and that ever will be.

Dave.

The radio reports I listened to while on my 5 hour drive were very different. Lots tried to introduce doping culture, kind of leaning toward a why only Lance slant. One called his fall from grace the largest in sports history. Another said that the story will only be over when and if the UCI are found not guilty of their role. No matter what Lance is famous, so is Jerry Sandusky, Saddam, and the super famous CharlesCarl Roberts IV. All know in a community or nation for something.1 report claimed that Armstrong's lawyers should have then and now STFU because given the current conditions that a US prosecutor could take up the case again and do it all again.

Had an interesting conversation with a fangirl the other day.

She was grasping for similar justifications.

I explained it like this:

You have to think about that $1m to Ferrari. With the same name as the famous car brand, let's use an automotive analogy.

It was not a level playing field unless every other driver could afford to hire a $1m mechanic.

Alternately, ok they all bought cars to cheat with. Some managed to purchase used Yugos and Chevy Vegas with bald tires and a leaky crankcase. Lance, got himself a brand new Bugatti Veyron.

Yes, he had to pay more for gas. But, he had hours and hours at the end of the race to go to the gas station.

Dave.

...the FLA project seeks to address the public at large and its worshipping of athletes, genius, and iconic figures, the commodification and objectification of said celebrities as exchangeable entities and corporate advertisements, and most significantly, FLA documents the (generalizable) hero's inevitable fall from grace to failed pariah.

One word when it comes to how I feel about Pat Mcquaid retaining his position: HOW? COMO? WIE? HOE?

I really can't sum it up better then that. How can this man still be running the show?

I try not to think about it, but how in the fvck could Lance transfer money to Ferrari? A guy with financial advisors, computer knowledge, loads of indentured
drones everywhere. How do you do that? Then Dr.Cheat doesn't say he didn't get the money, two slices of toast the two of them.

Everybody on the planet that is paying attention knows that pro cyclists dope. I always thought that was a given until I started getting injuries that caused me to look at cycling websites.
I will never, ever, never understand why Lance has let this go this far. He is part of the measurable population that foster some grand illusion that cycling is raced by non-doped athletes. Lance learn the drug dealers credo, don't use your own supply.

When you think about, it is almost comical. How in the world did he get away with this charade for so long? How could one person be so arrogant and so careless about his crimes. He was literally flaunting it in front of everyones face. This whole Lance saga is far crazier than could be made up. Think about it. Just crazy

I think Lance was convinced that Americans were so ignorant about cycling (the only race that matters is the Tour, etc.) that it would never get traction here.

And as the final chapter was written, i want to thank Alpe, Hog, and RaceRadio again, of course. It was quite a roller coaster ride since i joined this great forum. I learned a lot from you all...
I thank all the people who were honest and straight (Simeoni, Lemond, Betsy, Vaughters, and all).
And i am not as bitter as Binotti, a guy who i really like... But i have to say that McQuaid isn´t that bad of a person as everybody thinks. I believe he just wanted to save face, but he was under pressure until the end b/c of Heini.
So at the end i made my peace with Mc Quaid, b/c i just believe him. The bad power behind all that mess were LA and Heini.
AMYWAY, I AM HAPPY JUSTICE WAS MADE and the guys at the top of UCI hold Heini in check. Guys, find your peace, not everybody is rotten to the core. The men just want to save face. That is life. I think it was a brave act for McQuaid to call it what it is.
Finally i am happy.

And a special hello to Alpe, i am back to football, b/c now i can belive in the truth again.
Thank you for all, it was a long hard fight.

I found my peace finally. I am happy.

PS: I am totally drunk because of celebrating this day, to write this post took me some time. :)
I´ll post this also in the NFL thread b/c you shall all know that at least one person is really feeling great today.
So excuse me for some grammar errors...
