Mark Webber on Lance "I think what's staggering to everyone is the amount of people he was prepared to take out on the way up; people who were morally on the right side of the bridge. He wasn't worried about the ramifications and the position he may have put these people in; it was all about Planet Lance."

i was just about to post this link... more nuanced than that quote makes it seem, more human... chapeau to Webber!

So the past week has seen 2 parallel developments that make me think of a perfect storm developing, and LAnce playing his next card:

1. Lance's Oprah show has backfired on him big time. The fanbase that he and Fabiani assumed were stupid have not bought the continuing lies. Tygart and others calling him on it didn't help. But it has left Lance in a worse position than before. He is being ignored and being forgotten more quickly than anyone could have imagined.

2. UCI has made total fools of themselves and their administration of cycling, their fraud & manipulation now abundantly clear to the world, yet Pat and Hein are still there...

I say there is a good chance Lance will play his next (final?) card and disclose the various UCI dirt. This in an attempt to clean his own image, present himself as the cycling messiah (sinned but came clean and saved the sport). It's his golden chance to redeem himself after the failure of the previous 2 strategies (ignore USADA case and Oprah show) and reclaim the media spotlight. And Tygart has dangled the carrot already...

Armstrong accuses

No generation was exempt or 'clean'. Not Merckx, not Hinault, not LeMond, not Coppi, not Gimondi, not Indurain, not Anquetil, not Bartali, and not mine.

Is he naming riders in this or generations?

He is taking no prisoners here naming Hinault, LeMond and Indurain.

He really should never be allowed on a bike again in any competition.

To take a dig at Bartali is the lowest of the low.

Armstrong still hoping

We all made the mess, let's all fix the mess, and let's all be punished equally.

I think you may find that some controlled the mess. And not all punishment should be meted out equally.

Armstrong still trying desperately to get his ban to 6 months?

That interview was obviously an email interview because it is not Armstrong replying. Probably Stapleton.

Seems like this latest interview is a technique in deflection,

From hopping on trains a 100 years ago to EPO now. No generation was exempt or 'clean'. Not Merckx, not Hinault, not LeMond, not Coppi, not Gimondi, not Indurain, not Anquetil, not Bartali, and not mine.

attempted dig at LeMond

He honestly thinks what he to the sport and those around him is on par with what Hincapie, Barry, et al did. He wants that 6 month ban for "coming clean". And he couldn't help but try and slime LeMond while he was at it. Pure trash. He should not be offered any part of a TRC. We already know what he's done and why.

For someone not outing others he sure put some names on the list. What an Arrogant, Self Serving, Pitiful AS* that excuse for a human being is!
I think he worded it carefully, including dropping the 's, so that the message would be clear but he couldn't be accused of smearing LeMond and the rest.

He's lumping everyone into his category; equating a white lie as damaging as a slanderous lie. Calling it seeking an "advantage". What nonsense!

Here's what he's really saying about the other 'generations':

"There's no way they competed clean because if they did, it means I'm not as good of a cyclist that they are and that's IMPOSSIBLE. They're NOT better than me, so they HAD to have been juicing!"

Yes - but nice to see LA bad mouthing Pat and the UCI.
That at least is news.
indeed.

Pathetic Pat. Nice.

I guess I could like an Earnest Lance.
When he speaks frankly, you see he's quite a clever guy with a nice way of putting things.
But he has to go for the 100%. not 60%, not 95%. (the full truth, I mean)

He really should stop mentioning the word "truth" in anything he says. No one, and I mean no one, should take anything he says as even remotely credible anymore. Even if he were to be totally candid about the UCI and what they did or didn't do, it'd be hard to believe it was completely true.
