But he's not an athlete anymore. USADA, UCI and WADA have been quite clear on that matter.

I just amused there's someone called Metta World Peace. Seriously?

Ah yes, the basketball player formally known as Ron Artest. Who despite his new name, was just suspended for an 11th time for his behavior in games.

Not turned in the UK. Wiggins was voted BBC sports personality of the year award. The first cyclist since Tom Simpson in 1965 ...

Wiggins and Lance are not the same person, I'm sure you know that but I find from people I've spoken to Lance is a lot more popular in the UK, people keep going on about research.

Highly skilled mentally ill basketball player. Hurts people. Someday he'll hurt somebody really bad.

His way of Trolling the NBA, gotta give it to him he has done a good job of it.

Still though, who here was ever asked to be in this poll? If they had asked anyone reading this thread it would be pretty obvious.

I wouldn't argue with that statement. Rather, I would argue that the person who made it is doing one terrible job of it.

Dave.

10 Bonus points for the perspective!

“We have been in communication with Mr. Armstrong and his representatives and we understand that he does want to be part of the solution and assist in the effort to clean up the sport of cycling. We have agreed to his request for an additional two weeks to work on details to hopefully allow for this to happen.”

It's on another thread, but today ABC in the US reported the US Dept. of Justice confirming it has an ongoing investigation of Mr. Armstrong for obstruction of justice, etc. This is not the matter that Birotte spoke of yesterday. In addition, today an official representative of the US Food and Drug Administration stated the FDA has an ongoing investigation. These are separate matters. The existence of these investigations likely destroys any possibility that Lance would speak to the USADA. USADA is junior to these investigations. Recall that USADA had to sit on its hands for two years while Birotte looked into things.

But LA has already been sanctioned by USADA. Its done.
What LA is now attempting is to get some relief on that by co-operating.

USADA want it all, and under oath. I expect he will be using these 2 weeks to sort out any criminal fallout and hoping to do a deal.

Armstrong is playing the stall game and his lawyers are racking up the billable hours. As long as USADA remain in control of the situation, the extension is reasonable given the circumstances. Only one extension though. Feb 20, 2013 is final cut-off date. Using the word "hopefully" in their statement does not sound promising though.

Yeah, it's clear as a supremely self-interested media and corporate entity (not to mention human being), Lance Armstrong will only co-operate if that's his best option. For years, his best option was to use his wealth to crush competition. Now he's poison, lost his sponsors, UCI, other riders, legions of fans, cancer survivors. He still has powerful friends that probably tell him they can't support him in public but have got his back, but his goalposts have shifted. Clearly he finally budged and understood that his best option lay with confessing. Now that his half-assed 'confession' flopped and he has very little traction (and zero mystique, as he's broken his silence in an embarrassing way), co-operating with USADA is becoming more and more his best option. From the way the investigation into USPS was conducted and the anecdote about TT meeting him in Denver, they won't let him off easy. SCA is happening, the feds is happening, the tide is turned. All he's got is the truth to give him a bit of a cushion. It's in his best interests, in my opinion.

Not that he won't go kicking and screaming, withholding whatever crap to create the self-illusion of some modicum of control.
