Cycle of Lies
The definitive account of Lance Armstrong's spectacular rise and fall. In June 2013, when Lance Armstrong fled his palatial home in Texas, downsizing in the face of multimillion-dollar lawsuits, Juliet Macur was there—talking to his girlfriend and children and listening to Armstrong's…

sounds dramatic!
"so he loaded up his truck and he moved to Beverleee…."

When is it out & what's the name of it?

It comes out next week, it is called "Cycle of Lies" http://www.amazon.com/Cycle-Lies-Fall-Lance-Armstrong/dp/0062277227

She has focused on the personal elements of the story, many of which are rather disturbing. The parts I have read paint Lance as dark, disturbed, surrounded by enablers. Lance's Mom does not come off well. The story that was sold to the public, single mom, raising a champion, is shown to be nonsense.

It is a big book, close to 500 pages. I have only seen part of it and can't image lance would like it.....but there are many pages more to come.

One portion raised a real concern. Juliet writes about the well known story of Lance buying the Triple Crown. She adds a new twist to the story, saying that Frankie approached Scott McKinely and offered $50,000 if they let Lance win the 2nd round of the Triple Crown.....the problem is this conversation never happened. Both of the riders involved say it did not happen. Scott is very clear that it did not happen. He says it is absurd that a guy in Frankie's position would just roll up and offer $50k. The problem is Juliet never called Scott to ask. Never talked to Frankie about it. Does not include anything from them about the event in the book.

Buying/selling races happens in the sport, but this is insurance fraud. $600,000. Given that lance has run a very organized campaign to smear Frankie over the last decade I would have thought that an allegation like this would have been extensively sourced, instead it is just marked "Allegedly".

Hopefully the rest of the book is accurate

So to recap....
It's potentially a good book, as long as it's only Armstrong that gets exposed?

Dang, I just wish Bro was here to tell us how distorted it is to compare Lance to the Beverly Hillbillies...

Conversely, it can't be a good book unless it exposes everyone else? I don't think she had the time to get primary source information on all of those people, but hey, maybe she should have tried harder?

Maybe she should have tried harder, or maybe the Anti Armstrong camp is just as capable of lying as the pro Armstrong camp?

I'm just looking for confirmation of Lance buying his Flèche Wallone win. Then his legacy of a potentially prolific classics winner will be complete.
