visit england and you will find that there is little tolerance to dopers

lance has had no sympathy from the british press / public and is NOT
wanted over here

And yet post anything mildly critical of Sky on any British newspaper and watch that post disappear. And god forbid you mention Mo Farah or Saint Brad. I'd say there is a high tolerance for dopers as long as they fly the Union colours.

BIG difference lance is a known doper

if similar was known about brad or mo they would be treated similarly

however this is the lance thread and my point being lance is NOT wanted here

You could say the same thing about the USA and pretty much any other country as well. It's a completely meaningless comment. There are people everywhere who defend their favourite athletes for any reason whatsoever.

As a UK citizen, I agree that it's particularly bad here, not so much a tolerance for dopers but more the level of naivety.

Canada had the Dubin inquiry.

The USA had Balco. Dwayne Chambers was outed as a doper but he wasn't as big in the UK as the likes of Marion Jones and Barry Bonds and he lost credibility when he made absurd sour grapes (truthful) comments about what track and field is really like.

Australia have had their scandal.

France, Italy and Spain have had their scandals.

There's just never been a huge scandal about a UK sports man or women. Even sentenced dopers like Rio Ferdinand or Greg Ruskedski get off scot free in the eyes of the public.

But why sell THAT house? He has others, you know. . . That house appears to have a major emotional connection for him.

I can't reconcile two directly opposed thoughts, as you ask me to do. Maybe you should try it yourself.

Am still waiting for some evidence of "major emotional connection" from Lance.

Perhaps you were thinking of one of his dates?

You do remember his selection criteria, right?

Lance Armstrong says he likes his women 'hotter than doughnut grease'

Yup, that kind of criteria sure defines someone who makes major emotional connections.

Dave.

Pretty good chance that it wont be long though. You only need to look at how England/UK has been rocketing up the medal charts in recent Olympics to smell that something funny may be going on. They have been the equal of Jamaica as far as improvement goes. And you do not need to be a rocket scientist to work out what Jamaicaans have been up to.

Dude said dopers aren't welcome in the UK. I called bull****. Sure, homers are everywhere, so we're in agreement; the UK is not an exception.

Lance may still have a chance to redeem his self the way Hamilton has

But he would have to tell everything in an honest forthright manner that exposes all the operatives and his misdeeds. To convince people, a public sacrifice would be necessary for the greater good of cycling

The other is to make financial reparations without question, this is only fair for a guy who had a private aircraft, x number of homes and obscene influence wielded by lawyers against others

Otherwise its persona non grata for ever, as the keeping of secrets strategy is not going down well with the world, he's become a pariah

He is on the cusp of irrelevance ....and is entirely unaware of the fact.

It's always worth repeating that the sports federation enables the doping. If you can draw an audience, the sports federation will probably hide your positive, if you draw an audience AND win, then "never tested positive" is the phrase of the day. Winning fixes everything.

#1 An honest confession would probably set off criminal charges for him and very likely implicate Wiesel, the owner of USAC and a host of others including IOC actor Hein Verbruggen.

#2 I doubt he could tell truth from fiction he's created so much of the latter.

#3 There's no greater good of cycling to be had with another "bad athlete" story. The federations have gotten away with enabling doping with the "bad athlete" excuse. This is an IOC/UCI problem first.

Hamilton's transgressions had not one whit of the criminality and mean-spiritedness that pervade Armstrong's. The Japanese have a ritual for redeeming oneself from such disgrace, but I don't see much Bushi (or honor) in Lance's behaviour.

Wonder how soon till he files for bankruptcy and will his lawyers flee like cockroaches when a light gets switched on........
He can't race any more. And he's no longer a bankable spokesman. And he's going broke paying for his phalanx of criminal attorneys, the platoon of nannies employed to keep his kids off the Interwebs (so they won't learn what a dirtbag their father is), the vacation homes, the jet(s) and the regular dinners at Cache Cache. Yet he still has a way out, one line of work he is imminently qualified for that might supply enough steady income to maintain that lifestyle.

Porn.

Best of all, he won't even have to audition for the role, because he would come to the business with an established renown for screwing his coworkers without ceasing.

Common side effects may include home-selling, check writing, bankruptcy and insolvency. If your suspension lasts more than 8 years, contact Travis Tygart.

Hahaha, that's quite good.

I know for a few people the revelation that Armstrong was a doper has come as a shock and proof that actually PEDs work not just snake oil for weak minded losers.

This is a marketing line that could work.
