It's pretty funny that Armstrong was making almost $18 million and he asked Tyler to give up his bonus, so USPS could sign the Spanish Armada.

He's kind of a d*ck.

It's not accident that they are going after him. He enriched himself and then applied tremendous pressure to others.

This can't be good. What's next, Cheryl Crow? Nah, save her for the criminal case

Under oath, let the first questions be about witness tampering.
"Did Mr. Armstrong and yourself ever discussed the possibility of having to be a witness on his behalf, or against him"?

"Did Mr. Armstrong treat you with due respect, or talk about your and your [k-word] custody and financial future in relation to his alleged crimes and fall from grace."?

Also says a lot about the rest of the USPS and their continual lack of a spine. Anyone here can put themselves in that situation, would you take the pay cut or say no and move on (like most of us do in real life). If you allow yourself to be stepped on, you'll be stepped on.

THAT is the whole pro peloton. The bulk of the peloton is weak and is exploited by ruthless promoters. Zabriskie / Bruyneel presents the classic case. Cycling is messed up. Only the stars get paid.

Lance 'dumps' Anna.

Lance re-marries Kik.

Kik can't be compelled to testify.

Anna stays at the new pad.

Unwind everything when the case is over.

Problem solved.

Sounds like an awesome romcom/crime thriller. This has Oscar winner written all over it.

Yep. Maybe we should pay all pro cyclists with contact the same. It's not fair that Cancellara commands more salary than Roelandts. They were both in the finale at Flanders.... it's just not fair.

Yep. Richard Trumka should look into this.

The Fed document is very interesting.

Lance and his paid liars appear to be taking the track that USPS received a return on their investment but if you read the document the case has little to do with this. Lance and Johan lied to the USPS in order to get money from them. If the USPS made money on it may not factor into the equation.

Lance just made another massive mistake

You make a false claim to get federal money . . ..

I contract with the federal government to make Weapon X for the U.S. Army. I certify that I made Weapon X for the U.S. Army. I get paid by the U.S. for making Weapon X for the U.S. Army.

The United States of America then sues me.

I can't defend by saying "I provided Weapon Y for the U.S. Army. Weapon Y was a really good weapon. The Army LOVED Weapon Y. I can produce lots of testimony that Weapon Y was WAY better than Weapon X."

That argument really sucks for Lance.

I don't think "we" should do anything. I think that the riders should aggressively unionize to protect their interests.

Thanks for answering the question I came here to ask. Makes sense. Now.

So, regardless of whether they made any money due to the sponsorship (did they?), they paid to be sponsors of a CLEAN rider/team. Turns out that's not what they were sponsoring, so they should get their money back, plus penalties... Hmm. This case might be stronger than I thought it would be.

Lance and Tailwind falsely represented to the federal government that they complied with their contract. Because of that false representation, the feds paid.

You can look at it another way. If Lance/Tailwind had certified that Lance performed the contract completely, except for the fact that Lance and his whole team doped their buttocks off, would the United States have paid off on the contract?

I doubt it . . ..

Nice....

The contract is very specific about HOW lance and his buddies were supposed to go about rendering their product for the government. Not only did they not follow the agreement but they lied about it in order to get paid

I modified your example so it will make sense

I contract with the federal government to make Weapon X for the U.S. Army. My contract says clearly I am not allowed to use Chinese prison labor to make Weapon X. I get paid by the U.S. for making Weapon X for the U.S. Army.

I used lots of Chinese prisoners to make Weapon X

The United States of America then sues me.

Yup.

It is interesting to compare this to the original filing. This one is much stronger.
