Very interesting thread. This post nails it. The likes of Hincapie should be allowed to talk about how they saw it without people using underhand tactics against them. He only said what we all presumed to be true anyway, didn't he? Without Betsy, Frankie would have stayed in the team and on the program. Who doesn't believe that? The case against Armstrong is good enough without all these smear tactics and conspiracy theories about people who tell the truth about the wider situation.

Disagree here! The ONLY "underhanded tactics" throughout all of this, belong to everyone's favorite uni ball doper, LA. Who's made a career out of doing just that. He's a slimy POS, liar, narcissist, scammer, and bully, and how and/or why GH is STILL ball licking Wonderboy, is anyone's guess. He has zero to gain from it IMO. He (GH) only demolishes what little credibility he has remaining. He honestly thinks someone will buy his crappy book, where all he'll do is try to claim he and Wonderboy were the real victims, unreal.

All he's doing is trying to limit the damage he's catching now for his past.

All my opinion of course.

Why did he say what he said? Maybe he just said what he actually thinks.

Occam's Razor and all that. For your consideration.

I'm not sure. IMO, I think it's a weak attempt to try to give some sort of credibility to himself and his boy, the uni baller. He can say whatever he wants, it's when people actually believe what he says, where he gains IMO.

Did he give any sort of interview/depo to USADA about this? did any of this come out there?(I'm asking as I don't know). Why wait so long to "come out" with all of this, AFTER your boy gets incinerated by people?

It's like people here have said, notice GH and Wonderboy have found a few non cycling following writers to spew this nonsense to, they wouldn't do it to anyone else, why? they know they wouldn't be believed.

And already there is fresh poop here, which I am surprised is getting nibbled at.
The next time Berzin is passing by - in 2 or 3 months, I expect him to be so outraged that he will lock the threat for 36 hours.

Maybe because someone asked? I think it's quite likely that Hincapie's interview was spurred by Armstrong. I also have no reason to even slightly disbelieve anything he said. It's all consistent with the known facts.

Both can be true at once. Seems like they are. Hincapie isn't Armstrong. Fundamentally and completely different personalities.

I don't need it all to be black and white.

Hincapie's remarks have unintentionally revealed a darker side to elements of the movement against Armstrong. Conspiracy theories about Lance controlling the media and launching sophisticated smear campaigns seem a bit ridiculous these days. Who really believes the guy who can only go on BBC hardtalk to get beaten up is able to use the media to smear people anymore? Who believes the guy who half the world testified against, including George, and is going around the world begging nobodies to forgive him, is in any position to strong arm people into doing his biding?

Viciously attacking Hincapie for some fairly mild and obvious remarks haven't done some people any favors.

Armstrong's a complete ****** and has been manipulating the media and fans for decades. Totally consistent with past behavior that he's got a hand in all this, even if there's no actual evidence of it.

Since USADA his ability to manipulate has gone to almost zilch, as you point out. Who cares.

The article was 95% about Hincapie and his statements, despite the spin. Statements which are consistent with the facts.

Or maybe Lance the puppet master actually has nothing to do with this.

I dont see what he can gain by launching another smear campaign, via Hincapie in the detroit free press. No one cares.

Hi Lance.

a darker side to elements of the movement against Armstrong.

That's pretty good. You stay up all night thinking it up?

Viciously attacking Hincapie for some fairly mild and obvious remarks haven't done some people any favors

Obvious to whom? Which of his comments were obvious?

What could you possibly mean by this statement? can you clarify please?
'Obvious remarks' are also leaving me drawing a blank…

I know you are new here - due to the fact the piece only appeared in the Detroit press it shows that LA (&GH) are indeed desperate, but Armstrong does retain some hold on a minority of people.

You may find this unbelievable, but there are people who flood message boards, forum, social media for him, and go to great lengths even after being banned to spout his nonsense. Yes even now.

Will be interesting to see what comes out of that meeting, Tilford can see through him based on that blog entry.

I think Tilford had to consult legal before commenting further. :)

Bingo. Here's a comment from Tilford's blog that I thought summed it up nicely.

Hincapie’s interview with Frankie’s hometown paper seems so black-hearted. ...why does any sentient person care to debate whether Frankie used EPO 5 times or 50 times during a career that ended 13 years ago? Only if they want to kick up enough dirt to cloud Frankie’s character, which is precisely what George is doing.

Yep.

Not that Hincapie blames Frankie though....

I'd still like to know why GH is talking now.

You ask who is saying this, then go to imply that trying to talk to a journalist is all part of some sophisticated conspiracy theory against the Andreu's.

Lance has done a few interviews over the past year. BBC hardtalk. An interview with Daniel Benson, a few other journalists. All the interviews have been fairly wide ranging. He has talked to a lot people through emails.

Why are you promoting the idea it's all a plot to smear the Andreu's? Some people could consider that itself to be a smear job. I don't think you come out of this very well.
